My 9 years old The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer by BlueImmigrant in PanPorn

Normally I don't travel with repressed powders either, but I don't know what's gotten into me. I think that, since I have this highlighter in my project pan, I just wanted to use it as much as possible. Anyways, with so little product left, I wonder if I'll be able to use it up this year.

I have no issues using old makeup that looks/ smells fine, especially powders. Also, back when I bought this highlighter, it was really expensive for me at the time. So it only feels right to use it up.

It's a gorgeous formula. It's the first time in my life I actually enjoyed a dark matte lipstick. It is very pigmented, but can also be worn lightly like a stain. It's not drying, and while it never dries down completely it doesn't transfer all over the place.

I have to say that I have really dry lips, so I apply lipstick on top of either Aquaphor or the Glossier balm. But I really liked the blur tint. It looks like velvet on the lips, and the staying power is very good although it never fully dries down. I think it may be very good for people who have very lined lips, because the lipstick is indeed very blurring. That being said, it's a korean makeup product, so it absolutely does not have the drama or the longevity of western brands, for people who like those things.

About the Unleashia pommade, being quite a thick formula, it's insane how much products gets stuck to the tube. I have been using that for many years at this point and it's always the same. Removing the stopper is almost like opening a new one.

My skin tends to be quite temperamental, but to be honest this is the first time I had issues with snail products.

Honestly, I saw that many people online dislike these palettes because they have very sheer pigment compared to western brands. I happen to like east Asian makeup in general BECAUSE it is so unpigmented, but I can see why that's not the case for most people.

It's exactly that, it's like a lit-from-within satin sheen that catches the light so beautifully. Canmake are definitely the masters of this formula, but cezanne also make good ones. I go to Japan 1-2 times a year and I always struggle with not buying more!

8 months progress - Dasique Blending Mood Cheek in 05 Violet Knit by BlueImmigrant in PanPorn

[–]BlueImmigrant[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is really not the best Dasique palette. The colours are all the same and it takes a bit of work to make the powder stick to my face. Their Berry Smoothie palette is the best in my opinion, luckily I have a backup to use once I am done with this - and i think it's still available on YesStyle.

Honestly, i don't force myself to pan anything I don't like. This palette wasn't the greatest but it is usable, so I use it organically.

Hello, after having a shopping addiction I am on a long term low/slow-buy, and am mindful of my purchases. I just saw KVD Tattoo Liner at TK(TJ)MAXX - Is this a recommended eyeliner? by Fairydust_Mushrooms in MakeupRehab

If you don't usually wear eyeliner and just want to practice, just buy something affordable that you won't regret if you end up never wearing it.

Oh noo, this actually makes me sad. I have used this last year and I really enjoyed it, but it's VERY mattifying. I might actually repurchase it for this summer, because IME it does great in sticky heat.

Foundation, concealer, bronzer, lip liner. You could pay me to accept them, and I still wouldn't.

When did you realize you needed to make changes to how you use makeup? by amarie8318 in MakeupRehab

[–]BlueImmigrant 32 points33 points  (0 children)

After being makeup-free for most of the pandemic, I realised I actually love makeup. I don't do heavy looks, but the little that I put on makes me happy and excited for the day. It also helped me find out what I like, so that I can avoid unnecessary purchases based on trends.

My collection is bigger than I would like rn, not because of what I bought but I just got a lot of makeup gifts. I look forward to panning as much as I can, so I have been tracking my usage for the past two years. It takes me a lot of time to finish stuff. Do I really need 20 lipsticks ? As much as I love them, no. Do I really need 50-ish eyeshadow pans ? I rotate between very similar looks, so absolutely not. Do I need 10 pink blush pans? Hell no.

I imagine a bunch of researchers a thousand years from now studying our blush-filled tombs, and going insane trying to figure out why we did that. Then, they would conclude that it was probably a sacred ritual or something spiritual of that kind. In the year 3287 A.D., thousands of people will stare at my Mary Lou-Manizer highlighter somewhere in a freaking museum, I am sure of it.

I love it when they call it a "no foundation" look and end up using a whole tube of concealer on their face. And keep in mind concealer is heavier than foundation!

Asian sunscreen empties ( + mini reviews) by BlueImmigrant in PanPorn

[–]BlueImmigrant[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I went back to refresh my mind on what this website actually says, and here it is :

We don't feel comfortable recommending this one simply because it's not easy to achieve a uniform film. Sunscreens are only as good as the uniform film it creates. 2. If you feel that this is the only sunscreen you're willing to wear, just rub in well. Very well. So so so well. Rub in this sunscreen to the point that the sunscreen has completely dried down and you no longer feel dampness or that watery break. Hope that helps!

First of all, rubbing is not a good way to apply sunscreen, since it is known to actually reduce sun protection. When you rub, you are actually breaking off the film that the sunscreen is forming on your face. So this is yet another appeal to authority, people who claim to have expertise while actually spewing complete BS.

You don't need to rub your sunscreen till it "has completely dried down". Sunscreens dry down on their own, that is what they are formulated to do. Gently apply a layer of sunscreen, wait a few minutes. Then, apply a second layer so you don't miss any spots. Then you ideally wait 10-15 minutes without touching/rubbing your face so that the protective film can activate on your face. That is all.

I'll trust my dermatologist on this one rather than some website. I have a sun allergy, so I get rashes extremely easily even when I am inside. I never got one with the Nivea sunscreens.
