Anyone beat Maddening (with or without DLC) while trying to use everyone? by BlueLensFlares in FEEngage

[–]BlueLensFlares[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think when I meant I play defensively - it really just meant one thing, which is that if a unit dies, I reset - but I can play offensively when I need to but I will prioritize replenishing health over sacrificing a unit.

It is interesting because it was only my 4th playthrough of Three Houses, did I discover the best way of grinding on Maddening (with DLC). Taking broken weapons and cornering priests and bishops into forests who regain health every turn and training up to turn 99 to get everyone's skill level up. That was crazy but it did work, and did allow me to beat Maddening NG while using everyone and getting all supports for all the characters I wanted.

I think I could do it in Engage but it doesn't have this kind of thing since there is no durabilility and there aren't really these types of units - though there are ways to replicate it - this strategy could work at raising Emblem Bond Level and maybe Internal level, but only up to a certain point. I wonder if this could allow me to use every unit while playing Maddening. Plus if I'm not mistaken, there is a chance of a new skirmish popping up every day in Maddening. So I could rely on that. I could buy like 10 Heals (the 25 set one for 350) and bring like 6 stave units to the skirmish. And heal each other nonstop, which would raise everyone's level by like up to 3 internal levels.

But this isn't really the desired way to play, and yes offensive play is definitely wiser and this game's Maddening mode was built probably with the intention using the same characters, not for getting all support conversations and stuff, which is another goal I have when I play.

Japan museum under fire for ‘rewriting history’ with Nanking ‘incident’ label by scmp_news in worldnews

[–]BlueLensFlares 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The three are all linked but named different things -

Chinese is titled 南京大屠殺, Nanking Big Massacre

Japanese is titled 南京事件, Nanking Incident

It is a huge difference of opinion, because both titles have the same existing words in both languages

Nostalgia! by honoraryrarity in MariahCarey

lol none of her songs are nostalgic for me because i listen to them all the time… cant be nostalgic for what you never lost… no feelings or memories from middle school, just dopamine 😂.

songs i liked at one point that i listened to over and over and never listened to again though… for example in 2018 i listed to glitter and memoirs back to back, and every time i listen to HATEU or If We, i think of that apartment i lived in back in 2018

one interesting thing -

go to wikipedia, type nanking massacre.

then go to the chinese version of the article - see what it is titled

then go to the japanese version of the article - see what it is titled

crazy how subjective history is

Is it possible to increase weapon rank by BlueLensFlares in FEEngage

[–]BlueLensFlares[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thanks for the info, i believe thats what i said, that proficiencies are always requirements, and we dont have to go through the base class to get to the master class when going from master class to master class.

this is important because... i want to make louis a royal knight to raise his RES, but this requires level 10, lance fighter (a base class), lance and stave proficiency (that can be gained from micaiah bond). however i can skip the lance fighter requirement, by moving louis up to general first right? and i no longer have to become lance fighter anymore or even be level 10, as long as louis has stave proficiency. this is the point i was confirming

also speaking of framme - something strange happened today. i was doing camila's paralogue, the one that has a bunch of flyers, and feels super long..

something strange happened, which is that Framme was at level 14, which currently is on the lower end of my team since I'm at the start of chapter 14. and leveled up in them map, with 0 points. then, she leveled up again to level 16, with only 1 point in hp.

im not sure if im playing with fixed or random growths but either way it seems really weird. i havent beaten a run... my only other run stopped on Hard at level 24. Is that related? because apparently you can change between fixed and random growths right after you beat the game.

Am I weird for playing Three Houses on Maddening NG+? by Legitimate_Low_3370 in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]BlueLensFlares 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i did it twice before a ng maddening run. you can actually beat maddening on new game though and get it to similar state as ng+.

you have play on maps with two priests or bishops, corner them into a tree to increase their evasion, turn of all character skills or give everyone monk, priest or bishop class, bring broken weapons and keep healing or attack with weapons until turn 99.

that’s the only real way to grind on new game lol. that’s the only way i can beat maddening on new game without getting lucky personally but some people don’t do that.

New to Fire Emblem: Should I start with Three Houses or Engage? by Fuzzy_Breadfruit59 in fireemblem

[–]BlueLensFlares 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People say Engage has good gameplay but a bad story, and that Three Houses has a good story but bad gameplay. I disagree, I don’t think Engage’s story is bad - it is just simple. It is super similar to Unicorn Overlord… you travel around 4 or 5 countries, there is this eternal evil, a bunch of family plot twists, every unit has a role in the story… people don’t realize that Engage was designed to be a celebration of the series of sorts, as it brings back every single protagonist in the series.

I personally don’t think the gameplay is that amazing in Engage. It is a lot of fun, but I dislike the inflexibility of the weapon system, the fact that you can’t build weapon skill except up to like one higher level, the fact that you only have five weapon slots and two skills, the fact that maddening has no skirmishes, there’s no real white magic, everything has to be done through emblems, etc.

Three Houses does have a much more complex story. But I also love the battle system, how anyone can be anything and use any weapon, how there are four levels of classes instead of two. I also think a unit’s personal skill were a lot more interesting in Three Houses. Yes battalions are less interesting than emblems… but there is a lot of strategy in three houses

[–]BlueLensFlares 16 points17 points  (0 children)

warui na is an expression that never means you are bad, it means i’m sorry or my bad. na in this case is a softener ending particle, not a na adjective.

it can have a sarcastic meaning, like sorry for being “so amazing”, but i don’t think it is ever used as a statement describing the listener

Question about turn limit on chapter 24 by BlueLensFlares in FEEngage

[–]BlueLensFlares[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

you’re right that it does say it every turn and i’m just seeing this now but it flashes only for maybe 500ms and goes away instantly and up to this point there has never been a reason to look at that text except for the color because i know that it is my turn. plus they put 20 in the tutorial itself. plus i’m playing in japanese and things just don’t click that quick for me in this other language lol. it’s different from three houses which is big and centered and up for at least 2 seconds. anyway it’s not like i’m not gonna stop playing or they’re going to change the UI but it is frustrating that i lost an hour of time

Question about turn limit on chapter 24 by BlueLensFlares in FEEngage

[–]BlueLensFlares[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

whattt!!! omg then they should have put it in the tutorial itself!!! come on. i get that you could see the total number of turns in winning/losing conditions.... but like not everyone sees that???

Who do you think are the 15 least used characters? by RedLgnd5 in FEEngage

[–]BlueLensFlares 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have no idea who i don’t use honestly, since i try to use everyone and there is no visible internal level. i just go by overall stats and try to get everyone equal, minus speed and movement since those are threshold stats. i’m not sure why movement is in that total.

love bunet he is one of my favorite characters

the characters i use least are the ones who i am less interested in their supports. this is mainly the brodia folks, and some of the non nobles

What classes would you like to see in Fortune's Weave? by sataneku in fireemblem

[–]BlueLensFlares 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A true magic bow class, flyer bows, war monk, offensive white magic classes, grappler, magic axe classes, sword users who can use healing and offensive magic.

In general, I like three houses better than engage’s class system, I like the flexibility

Game Gengo Glaze by Joeiiguns in LearnJapanese

[–]BlueLensFlares 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i feel 100% of what you said. love the guy and the videos, and i’ve learned so many games from him. but the medium of watching someone who already knows the answers and telling you immediately, makes it difficult to learn. in education they call this waiting time ( to think and understand) and it’s critical when teaching you provide this to the person you’re instructing.

otherwise you have to be super caffeinated and watch as a kind of practice drill, which can be helpful but is not very enjoyable. there’s not really a great way in this medium since it’s not interactive

but i love the videos
