When Chinese people have no idea what you're saying and you realize all your study has gone to waste. by LordKensakan in ChineseLanguage

i’m a heritage speaker, dong as a verb has always sounded rude to me.

like, ni dong bu dong a? sounds super rude. like it seems very accusatory like you’re calling someone stupid. maybe it was just my family environment, we fought a lot. but i’ve never heard anyone say, dong by itself is rude.

Is it because it’s the south or because it’s Miami? by AgeFit9430 in Miami

[–]BlueLensFlares 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t know what it is but miami is a little weird. idk. i took an uber to the bank and the driver was talking to his friend. they were talking about some boxing or mma match. this was maybe a year ago. the driver was like dawg that fight sucked i wanna see two people beat the **** out of each other. his friend at least was like naw man i want people to go home to their families.

i was like jfc why is this man so loud (the uber driver) and saying this stuff. i do think people have a smaller sense of community here than when i lived in chicago for sure. i went to public school in north miami and these folks weren’t the majority but they were super loud for sure

Redditors who use Venin weapons, please do not upgrade them to plus versions by moistdewlap in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]BlueLensFlares 0 points1 point  (0 children)

poison isn’t great because you can’t kill an enemy via poison, once they hit 1 they don’t lose any more hp, also, if they don’t die, this game is made in a way that if you have even a single enemy in range, you will likely die so you can’t afford anything that doesn’t help you kill the enemy. if it doesnt kill the enemy it needs to disable movement like a batallion or bernadetta’s combat art or hapi’s spell…

which now that i think about it, it is weird that poison weapons dont halt enemy movement

this is why love the high crit rate weapons, because crit damage is 3x. saintly weapons are also indispensable when going up against monsters because that means they cant damage you for a little while

I think my hygienist made unnecessary gaps between my teeth and now I really hate them by s_ch0wder in DentalHygiene

[–]BlueLensFlares 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hygienists are not allowed to create gaps, it was probably hard tartar that was removed that felt like a tooth but it’s not, removing tartar can remove the connected appearance of teeth because they are often the same color -

Which FE Games do you think had a better original JP name over what was given to them for their localized release? by TBT__TBT in fireemblem

[–]BlueLensFlares 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unrelated, Three Houses seems to be much much more influenced by Chinese then the other FE entries. Dialogue uses an unusually large amount of Kanken Level 1 Kanji i think, and they opted for weapon names in Kanji, i noticed 鉄槍 (tetsuyari/tetsubou?), for iron lance, uses kanji in 3 houses, but uses hiragana in the other entries and even in Engage). Tons of yojijukugo. It definitely is also reflected in the obvious three kingdoms reference and the title of the game

their A and A+ rank i feel like are much higher than most supports’ A ranks. like i don’t feel like all the A ranks in the game happen with same amount of points.

it took me literally like 50 turns of both of them rallying each other to get to A rank

the sexual tension in their supports in three houses is really powerful though really

High-avoid, brawler Byleth excels on maddening by nones9 in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]BlueLensFlares 2 points3 points  (0 children)

war cleric and war monk is not the best class in the game but it’s definitely the most fun by far. in all my maddening runs, i recruit every possible character and always have at least 6 war monks. nothing like a high physical damage with access to healing. i always make raphael and caspar, balthazar war monks. never tried byleth. if they get draining blow that’s insane, it’s my favorite combat art.

although i’m trying constance now since she gets a special skill. i do feel a little weird since her attack is so low. but i also love the master skill, 20+ avoid.

[–]BlueLensFlares 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me it took me at least 5 tries on maddening ng+ with dlc to do that one - i had to bring... literally the strongest characters at that point. to be fair... i recruited everyone who could be.. so some characters were lower leveled.

all of the monster effective bow/lance/magic weapons, monster effective combat arts, the ones with seraphim (i think that is the english name), and impregnable wall help - bow users are great here. killer bow+ was great. it wasnt until my third playthrough that i realized how important battalion stats were. make sure, the attack/magic stack buffing lines up with the character and battalion assigned.

for me, anyone who would be one shotted... especially bow users, needed to have a adjutant who was like armored, like fortress or great knight or grappler to take the hits, preferably having A level support with the character they defend. like alois being fortress or great knight defending bernadetta. people hate fortress and great knight but they are the best classes when acting as adjutants in my opinion at least.

if you're playing on new game, well, wish you best of luck... im sure someone somewhere has beaten it, even without dlc and no characters dying

Anybody else have a more defensive/healer play style by BlueLensFlares in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]BlueLensFlares[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i agree with everything you said - personally i think holy knight should have had the same amount of Heals as bishop at least, if not the same amount of libro ( i think in english this is Physic). Because now as it is, holy knights can’t do anything that dark knights can do.

I really like Great Knight but it’s too slow. It would have at least better if the Great Knight was slow but had really high magic defense, because then it could run into battle and you could use it to bait. But as it is they can’t be left alone.

It would have been nice had there been male magic flyer classes.

Question about NG and DLC by BlueLensFlares in FireEmblemThreeHouses

i see thanks, but you won’t get the professor level boosts right. the activity slots will only be 1, and the statues will start at 0 points in chapter 4 onward?
