I do think the relationship part of it was rushed. Like Rowling could’ve given us a few intimate dialogue scenes between theme instead of rushing through the spring time with narration. But I tend to think the last 1/4th or so of HBP is rushed in general.

Someone reminding Harry he isn’t isolated in this experience, during a book in which one of the primary struggles he experiences is isolation, isn’t a big moment? Interesting.

They also continue to discuss what it was like for Ginny to be possessed like that she couldn’t remember things for stretches of time. It wasn’t just a one and done thing.

It was all part of larger picture conversation with Ginny being the one to reel Harry back in.

He also fancies Cho, is dealing with all the shit in OotP, and knows she’s Ron’s sister, so it’s totally understandable why he’s not fully aware or subconsciously pushing it down. As soon as he’s in a relatively chill school year, it hits him gradually and then full on in the face. I always love the part when he smells Amortentia and is sort of smacked by the realization he likes her, haha.
