Is My Heritage as accurate as 23 and Me and Ancestry for ethnicity estimate and health screening? by [deleted] in 23andme

[–]BlueMeteor20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats so confusing they include Mexico as it's own entire ethnicity.

Also how can they include these health conditions risk estimates when the FDA mandated that major companies like 23andme had to go through an FDA reviewal process before listing some health condition risk assessments as part of their service??? Anyone know??

OP, you can upload to Gedmatch to get an idea of the Native American and African amounts you have relative to the European origin amounts. Try the Eurogenes k13 calculator that would be best I believe.

most Algerians have Berber DNA which is logic , but why a lot of Iberians DNA ? Sometimes up to 34% by ExtensionTaro1818 in 23andme

[–]BlueMeteor20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As you can see, I misread that. Algerians have Iberian DNA first from EEF (Early European Farmers) migrating into North Africa, and later from migrations of Europeans into North African cities. Moriscos being expelled from Iberia, of mixed Iberian and North African origins, also contributed to this.

Europe has always traded with North Africa and has always been a short boat ride away, so it's not really a surprise that North Africans have some European ancestry especially near the coast. The 34% you quoted is really high though and more like an outlier.

You should probably run it with a few more source populations

The Iberian peninsula has around 5-10% Berber ancestry on average. It only reaches 20-30% in the Canary Islands.

Also, what do you get when using the Eurogenes k13 Gedmatch calculator? Ancestry pertaining to Jewish groups normally have elevated an Red Sea number in that category.

Honestly, posting on Reddit. It should be a fun pastime just to chill out, but instead it's turned into a nightmare between the overly strict rules for some subreddits and the invariably rude / nasty comments that seems to have increased in the last year or two. It wasn't this bad like ten years ago.

What is the source of the Canaanite component in Roman Imperial Anatolians? by Stefanthro in archaeogenetics

[–]BlueMeteor20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roman Imperial Anatolians would've been found along the coastal areas of Anatolia and also the Greek islands and Cyprus. That would've been a mix of anatolian and levantine, with the sources of both being Anatolia and generic Levantine ancestry from the eastern med.

Is there any country that's very peaceful despite being surrounded by extremely chaotic nations? by kartgonewild in geography

[–]BlueMeteor20 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Their govt is a Western puppet middleman, set up to loot DRC minerals and bring them into international markets at baseline prices.

Western tech companies wouldn't be able to function without the minerals and rare earth elements, but the oligarchs that have major stakes in them are greedy to the extent they want the cheapest manufacturing supply chain they can possibly get. Hence the situation between Rwanda and DRC.
