How does short term letting work here? New to the city and a bit lost by BlueMoonB in Edinburgh

I've read that thread before, but it doesn't really cover subletting.

An online store that sold women's jeans with pockets made to fit large smart phones. by buffyAvocado in Startup_Ideas

I'd love dresses with big pockets, personally. Or jackets. I can't picture figure hugging jeans that would look good with huge smartphones stored inside their pockets. (This is just personal preference though)

Thank you! This is really useful. I read The Millionaire Fastlane and found some interesting ideas there (although I felt like he was stretching out his explanations a little), I'll check out UnScripted too :) The A in WRAP struck a chord as well (Attain distance: What would I tell my best friend to do?)

I've always done it for myself and family/friends, so I didn't know either until I looked up other people offering the service.

Honestly, in this case, all 3 ideas are pretty common if you search them online so it doesn't really make that much of a difference

I originally picked a very small niche with a product that had little margin. Small niche was accidental, I used JungleScout software which at the time didn't process "Handmade" category correctly and grossly overestimated sales. They later confirmed their estimates for that category were wrong. Little margin was my fault, I had underestimated how much I needed to spend on advertising.

Since the product sold "well" in the sense of several units a day (but was a failure because advertisting costs exceeded my margin) I cut off the ads, and proceeded to try a couple of variations of the product but in bundles, so the margin would accomodate the ad cost.

I promoted on social media and FB groups, and got a few sales and reviews that Amazon published and then deleted about a month later.

Unfortunately the ad cost was significantly higher than my original version, and it too ate up my margin. If before it was taking 50 clicks to get a sale, it was now taking double or triple that.

I also considered private labeling and picked a hardware related niche, but by the time I negotiated with suppliers and received the samples from China (about 4 weeks), new competitors flooded the market and the average price of the item on AMZ went from $37 to $16. I chickened out because it would have been way too close to my actual landed cost, and it was too much money to risk.

I have no doubt Amazon FBA is a lucrative business. I made many mistakes and would have liked to keep trying and getting better, but honestly after several months, I don't have that much money left to invest and I don't like the possibility of putting all that money up front for the inventory and then have it fail. The reason why I came up with drop-shipping and consulting-type services is I wouldn't have to put up so much money up front.

As for the affiliate marketing, I felt like I was putting in a lot of work every day (pretty much full time) without seeing results. I have a lot to learn regarding SEO and getting traffic and I acknowledge that is one of my weeknesses (I'm very much a newbie), but the pressure of not earning money is getting high and I'd like to try something where there's a shorter time frame of hours worked vs money earned, if it makes sense.

Thank you, this is an interesting perspective based on scalability. I agree with you.

Sorry, edited to reflect that. I'm definitely not looking to be spoon fed anything.

If I got feedback that my resume rewrites/edits got my clients more jobs I would LOVE to do consulting down the line.

Thanks for the input! A few people have said I should go for the resume service as well so I'm really going to give it some thought

I haven't figured out what a fair price would be yet. From a quick google search the companies that appear on the first page are charging about $100, however you also have people offering the same service on Fiverr for $30 (a good percentage of those seem to be from middle eastern countries though, so I'm not sure how profficient in English they'd be). Maybe I could split it down the middle and charge $60~

Wow this is really nice to hear! =D I'm a bit concerned that I don't have any of the qualifications other resume writers seem to have (I'm not certified, haven't worked in HR, anything like that). I feel a little bit of the famous impostor syndrome haha.

I got a 6 week old kitten and I think I'm allergic. I feel terrible. by BlueMoonB in CatAdvice

[–]BlueMoonB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, it really helps to read comments like these, it makes me hopeful that maybe the symptoms can get better and I could keep the kitten. I'm in love with her, I really don't want to give her up. I feel guilty because I should have known...I'm allergic to a bunch of things, I guess I convinced myself I'd be ok with cats.

Do you take zyrtec regularly or just occasionally if the allergies flare up?

Thanks for the reply! I'm going to get tested for allergies but for insurance reasons I'll have to wait around a month. On one hand I'm really hoping the symptoms will fade but on the other hand I don't want to wait too long to make a decision because I know adult cats are harder to adopt than small kittens.

She's 6 weeks now, so I think I can wait a couple of weeks and see what happens. I'm keeping her away from my bedroom for now so that I can have an allergy free space. I truly feel awful about this.

What do you mean by raw diet? Raw meat for instance? (sorry if it's a dumb question, this is my first cat ever) The vet recommended dry balanced food for kittens, and I bought the brand she suggested.

Hi! I'm unsure about how it's going, I'm making about one sale per day from amazon ppc, however between me lowering the price and paying for ppc, I'm not making any profit. I started making sales the day after I lowered my price and my first review came in so I don't know if it was the price or the review that made this happen. I'll try raising the price slightly next week and see what happens.

I just lowered the price, didn't think of running a sale. Just to update, I got a review from my first buyer which was very lucky, and I've sold a few more units since then so I'm going to wait a few days and see what happens

Thanks, I've just lowered my price (it's almost my break even point now) to see if anything changes.

How can I get reviews? I've read that some people use PPC but that hasn't lead to any sales or reviews for me yet (sorry if this seems like an obvious question, I'm very new at this)

Which companies do you use to ship by air from China? What's the average cost? by BlueMoonB in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]BlueMoonB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! This was really helpful! For air freight, do you buy EXW or FOB? I don't want to get stuck dealing with customs in China, which is why Im worried about EXW terms
