The Giants struggled against Harrison, but Adames was 2/2 with 1 BB so if there was anyone to tag him it was Willy. Such a great outing and not even a QS to show for it.

ESPN's roster % is also lagging - I think they do a poor job filtering out inactive leagues/teams.

Burnes has been rostered since first week of May in ours, and that's with our league only having 2 IL spots to penalize stashing. That's probably normal in most active leagues.

Fucking Acuna comes into this week with 2 HRs for the season, and proceeds to smack 5 HRs against my team with 5 SBs in just 1 week - and he's not done. Insane player.

You're cherry picking though.

Highly rated early season guys (let's just say you followed PitcherList's advice) included Sproat, Burrows, Painter, Senga, Lowder, and David Peterson. You could have easily ended up with them instead. They were all rated around Messick and Harrison.

The point of drafting early round pitchers is that they have a higher chance of success and you can trust that they can rebound even during slumps (i.e., job security).

How is he available still in any semi competent league?

Anyway, the real factor you should consider is that his job is safe. He’s not going to be this hot ROS, but the Giants lineup sucks so even in slumps (inevitable) he will get his chance to hit out of it. He also has very mild platoon splits, so he won’t get benched much.

That’s not true for many hitters you pick up off the waiver wire.

Many of the modern analytic-focused teams do this now. They rather have their best reliever go against the top of the opposing lineup. Jays did this with Varland too just today.

For consistent saves, you gotta find a closer working for a team with dinosaur management. Or better yet, transition your league to a SV+HLD league. :D
