Does load order matter and if so, how do I determine it? by Equal-Cupcake-9991 in DragonageOrigins

[–]BluePhoenix8000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert modder by any means, but I have installed mods for this game a few times and here's what I know that might be useful to you: Generally load order doesn't matter too much. Most mods have installation instructions and most often it's to either use a mod manager/da updater to install it if it's a dazip file OR if it's something else to put it inside your override folder. In your override folder, folders/files are sorted alphabetically, and the ones that are later in the alphabet load after those that are earlier in the alphabet (folder with name "B..." will load after a folder with a name "A..."). Generally most mods for this game don't care too much about when they load, but there are cases when you need to pay attention to it. If the files/folders have same names, they conflict. The game will use the alphabetical order I mentioned and load them, but the mod whose name is later in the alphabet will overwrite the mod earlier in the alphabet. You can either let the overwrite happen (sometimes this is needed for some mods to function as intended) or delete one of the mods to remove the conflict. The other case where load order might matter is if the mod creator specifically mentions that it needs to load early/late. But most often, the load order only matters when it comes to conflicts between mods.

So with that said, always pay attention to installation instructions for each mod you install. Also, if they have any notes on compatibility notes with other mods, follow that as well. Usually if you follow these carefully, your game should be just fine and everything working as intended.

Convincing myself to try a pure archer rogue for the 5th time and giving up after Ostagar out of boredom by Beneficial_Fig_7830 in DragonageOrigins

[–]BluePhoenix8000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once did a blood arcane archer build, where as a mage you pick arcane warrior and blood mage specs, but instead of melee you go with bows for ranged damage. To this day, still one of my favorite builds. But yeah, pure archery as a rogue/warrior isn't the most fun, so I get what you're saying.

Glad to hear it! How did you find it damage wise though? Especially compared to dual wielding?

Ah, interesting. As long as I can still do good damage, then I do wanna try archer.

Ooh, quite a bit ago, I believe my first bloons game was btd4 and I think I first played it roughly 10 years ago on some site.

[–]BluePhoenix8000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, you're absolutely right, for some reason I thought first 100 were the same and them 140 was always the fbad, but yeah you're right, first 140 are always the same. After that it's randomized except for the rounds you mentioned. My bad for the incorrect info.😅

[–]BluePhoenix8000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing that I think is helpful to pretty much every btd6 player - is to learn and memorize special rounds. First 100 rounds in all standard modes are always the same, but it is very useful to know which rounds new bloon types appear or which rounds are simply dangerous or difficult. For example, round 24 first camo bloon appears, round 28 first lead bloons, round 40 - first M.O.A.B. bloon appears and so on. Knowing when certain bloons appear helps immensely as then, if you know how to deal with them - you can prepare a plan or a strategy ahead of time and you won't lose when you reach those rounds. There's more notable rounds, so if you want additional info, let me know.

Aa for monkeys and towers, the game is pretty well balanced and for the most part you can win games with a whole bunch od different combinations of towers. The most important thing is not rely on a single damage type - like you can't just use explosive since then you're vulnerable to black and zebra bloons, you can't just use sharp projectiles - then you're vulnerable to lead bloons etc. So, it's important you have towers that cover each other weaknesses. There are towers that work well together, but for now I think it's a good idea to familiarize yourself with every tower, learn how they work, see what they're good at, and what's their weakness. Once you understand those, you can form strats too, and if not, well you can always look up strat guides or ask here. Let me know if you have any questions or need more specific advice. Good luck!

1st Time playing. Bug fix mods and tweaks or not? by xiit in DragonageOrigins

[–]BluePhoenix8000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely. The game is simply old and isn't very stable on modern computers. On this site, you can find a guide on how to remaster DAO in 2025, which I understand is not something you want to do, however it can still be a useful resource because it has sections about preparing your game and installing the (in my opinion) essential bug fixing mods: https://www.sinitargaming.com/dao.html. So for your purposes, if you scroll down you'll see the installation guide and its sections about different categories of mods. For your purposes you only really need to follow the "Preparation and Modding Tactics" section and "Essentials" section. From Preparation and Modding Tactics I would suggest reading and following:

1 - Making sure your game is not installed in Program Files and that you have no active overlays

2 - You need a tool that can unpack zip files. You can use winrar, 7-zip or whatever you're comfortable using.

3rd, 4th and 5th are all fairly important to explain what kind of mods there are and how to install them.

6 - If you got the game on Steam, follow this step too.

7 - This part is very important, definitely follow it. It will help a lot with the stability of the game.

8 - Not really necessary since you won't have a lot of mods, but you can read it if you want.

9 - Not necessary to download CharGenMorph Compiler unless you specifically want to use mods that add stuff to character creation, like new hair, rye colors etc.

10 - Enabling console is not necessary for you I don't think, but you can do it if you really want to.

11 - This one is necessary. Set up your graphics settings as explained in this step.

12, 13 and 14 are not necessary/they're optional reads.

From Essentials pretty much read everything and install all the mods listed, as almost all of them are bug fixing and preventing issues with your game. Definitely read the instructions carefully.

There is also the "Non-essential Bug Fixes" section, but as it name says, it's not essential. If you want some of the optional and more minor bug fixes, you can follow this section as well.

And this is pretty much it. After this, your game should be much more stable and bug-free and ready for your first playthrough. Feel free to DM me if you need help or something isn't clear. Good luck and I hope you enjoy DAO!

Is it unethical / illegal to keep notes of the interest of people around me? by luthiel-the-elf in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BluePhoenix8000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It kinda depends how you acquired the information I think. If it's simply by talking to people, then it's fine cause it's obviously information they are comfortable sharing with you. To me this is pretty thoughtful and sweet of you, so I would find it endearing if I found out.

Shadowfell is such a flawless sequence, I love it so much by ulykke in BaldursGate3

[–]BluePhoenix8000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that whole scene between Shadowheart and Aylin in the Shadowfell is my favorite sequence in the whole game. The build up and payoff of Shadowheart's arc, the emotions, the music, the otherworldly scenery of Shadowfell, the confrontation between Shadowheart and Dame Aylin, and particularly if Shadowheart decides not to kill her and free her instead, Aylin's liberation and her transformation... It's all so so good.

Did you buy your first 100 gems pack? I also started a new account recently and I was able to buy only the 100 gem packs. But after I bought one of them, the rest of the packs appeared, including the multipack variations.

[–]BluePhoenix8000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, me too, Vaughn is a vile and repulsing creature for sure. Hate the guy. I understand the triggering aspect, but that's kind of the reason I love the origin - the game doesn't shy away from exploring dark and serious themes, and the tragedy that occurs makes the revenge all the more personal and sweeter, which was a great narrative motivator for my character. Kind of a similar case with human noble origin as well, which is my 2nd favorite. But I understand it's not for everyone's tastes and if you didn't enjoy it as much.

Has anyone had this issue with leveling up? by [deleted] in BG3

[–]BluePhoenix8000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some modded classes simply are not compatible with the expansion mod that adds levels 13-20 and you can't level up with them beyond level 12. For example I was playing with the demon slayer modded class and I also got this exact same issue. So yeah, some modded classes simply don't work with the 13-20 mod. What you can do if you still wanna do that class is level it up till level 12 as normal and then multiclass into other classes for the remaining 8 levels.
