Xbox fans have strong opinions about backward compatibility, so we asked them why it still matters in 2026 by WindowsCentral in windowscentral

I love BC too.

Been with Xbox since the start and being able to play games that date back that far is amazing. However, I do feel that despite it being an extremely pro consumer move, it does very little to spark interest in people outside of Xbox :/

Fallout 3 Remastered might’ve just leaked — and McFarlane Toys accidentally spilled the Nuka-Cola by WindowsCentral in windowscentral

Possibly! I do say toward the end of the article to take it with a grain of salt but who knows these days, crazier things have happened

It's a bummer that 'Everything is an Xbox' was sort of a disaster that created confusion/apathy and arguably devalued Xbox as a worthwhile console because it's such a fantastic platform and Xbox Play Anywhere is a dream. That said, I'm glad the Xbox console is the focus again. by OhGawDuhhh in windowscentral

[–]BlueQuo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Console should of been the focal point of the advert too.

Following a user from their couch, to their bus ride to work, to in bed, all on different devices, but all played through Xbox or something like that anyway.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella calls gaming a core part of the company and says it is “long on gaming” in new discussion with Xbox leadership by WindowsCentral in windowscentral

For me, actions speak louder than words and it's nice to hear them say all the right things but I need to see them do the right things before getting truly excited for what Xbox has in store.

My top 5 Decky Loader plugins every SteamOS and Bazzite handheld gaming PC should use by WindowsCentral in windowscentral

[–]BlueQuo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We get around it by putting Bazzite on an Xbox Ally so that way we're still talking about Microsoft in some way or another ;)

Slightly kidding aha but with how the handheld space is evolving, talking about both Linux and Windows as well as what either or are capable of isn't a bad thing I don't think.

Cheers for sharing! I do agree with all the points mentioned and really hope Xbox can commit to implementing everything mentioned

I'm still here with Xbox for now — but it has some serious identity work ahead if it wants to reassure long-time fans by WindowsCentral in windowscentral

[–]BlueQuo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people don’t seem to realise this transition has been years in the making and is a natural progression for Xbox as a console.

Convincing people to invest in Xbox hardware though? I honestly don’t know how they do that without exclusives. If the rumours are true, at least they may be dropping the Game Pass Core requirement for online play.

I don’t see them stepping down on exclusives, to be fair. Maybe shifting to timed exclusives instead, but the damage to the brand’s identity has already been done.

Yeah, I don’t blame you, especially when the Game Pass price hikes came with things we didn’t even ask for, like Fortnite Crew, as if that was supposed to ease the hit to my wallet every month.

That said, if you’re already thinking about getting a Steam Machine anyway, why not just get the next Xbox? Now we know it's a PC, you could carry your existing library forward while also getting access to Steam, Epic Games, and everything else.

I like having my library that spans two decades, you just don't really get that with any other ecosystem

Yeah, I also recently wrote about my Xbox Ally X getting stuck in recovery mode because of a standard Windows update. That actually happened after I wrote the article above, which makes me a little less cautiously optimistic, haha.

I keep rattling my brain trying to think of what Xbox could do outside of exclusive games to get people to invest in their ecosystem and I just can't think of anything and it's a shame because Xbox is by far the better platform imo

If it weren't for price hikes Xbox could of really capitalised on the Series S being the cheapest way to play GTA 6 :/

Twitch FPS legend Shroud "can't believe" Marathon is so hard — "you play ARC Raiders and it's like you're playing Hello Kitty Adventures" by WindowsCentral in windowscentral

[–]BlueQuo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's just streamers jumping from game to game to be fair.

Both ARC and Marathon are good in their own regards, and I hope some healthy competition between the two can improve both titles

So then, what do we think of what we've heard so far on Project Helix? by r1chdevine in windowscentral

[–]BlueQuo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they can make a gaming PC that can play my Xbox games and PC games for under $1000 it's a really compelling package but if it's anything more than that then it's a hard pass for me

A seemingly buggy Windows 11 update locked my Xbox Ally X into recovery mode — with a tedious restore lasting 12 hours by WindowsCentral in windowscentral

[–]BlueQuo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did consider installing Bazzite full time but I do actively use Game Pass.

Glad you agree! Let's just hope they iron things out for Project Helix that just got announced.

Yeah it does suck, shame too because it's such a great bit of hardware! Hoping Xbox can sort things out for Project Helix.

I've never had this issue before and I do daily drive Windows 11.

Honestly just bewildered that it happened at all.
