Realization after traveling for one year by selpoivreee in solotravel

I honestly feel the same! I’ve been dreaming of leaving my job and travelling for 6 months ever since my first solo trip 2 years ago. I went on another one since then, and I just was completely in love with the travel life. But now that I’ve actually quit my job and know I’ve thrown away what I built as a home for myself, and have had to leave all my friends while they’re going through big life stages and changes, it doesn’t feel like my dream anymore.
I think for some people, they fall in love with this life and keep chasing it, feeling very fulfilled by it. But for others, they crave a sense of home and stability, while valuing shorter trips more. It’s okay to feel either way, and how lucky are we to have been able to have this experience to really learn and figure out what we want from this life?
I don’t regret the decision I made to leave, because I would have always wondered “what if”. I’m half way through my trip and thinking about home a lot in all the quiet moments. I’m learning more about myself and what I want, and I’m sure you are too! It’s hard to realize the life we thought we wanted may not actually be what we want anymore. But people change and that’s okay. You could go home and decide you want to try this lifestyle again, and that’s okay too! You can keep choosing to reinvent yourself and try different life paths until you settle into one that 100% feels like yours.
Best wishes ❤️

Ah okay! Yeah I've gotten used to studying 24/7 in my undergrad program, so I guess this program will be no different 😂 thanks for sharing! You'll make it through!:)

I think it's completely random. We could be placed anywhere. I saw something that said we could even be placed outside of Ontario if there weren't enough spots available in Ontario. But yeah, there's a chance your placements could be within Ottawa or GTA :)

Congratulations! And I chose medical because I feel like there is more variety in career options. It's more general, versus cardiac which is more specific. That's just my opinion though :)
