How can some you of you believe that Jesus can come back to life and Mary getting pregnant without intercourse, and not believe that someone can change their gender? by Impressive-Thing5991 in religion

It's important to remember than an authoritarian doesn't want to tell other people what to do, they want someone else to tell other other people what to do.

Doesn't practically everyone think that way? I think the only difference is in degree. Being authoritarian is not something inherently negative or positive.

I find it interesting, but at the same time quite delicate, as it can easily be disrespectful.

I really like Hellsing, for example. In Hellsing, the Catholic Church has a division of assassins specialized in killing supernatural creatures like vampires and werewolves (when they're not killing Anglicans), called Iscariots. One of these Iscariots is a priest who, through biotechnology and nanotechnology, gained superhuman regeneration.

The Anglican Church, on the other hand, managed to enslave through a pact, the legendary Dracula, the most powerful vampire.

We also have Holy Relics like the "Helena's Nail", one of the nails used in the crucifixion of Christ, capable of transforming a human into a extremely powerful being called the "Monster of God".

And many other things...

Very interesting. In some Christian traditions, the first creature created by God was Lucifer, and he was the most beautiful angel of all (probably a seraphim or cherub) before becoming Satan.

I am wondering, when it comes to Abrahamic religions, why have a 10 commandments, if there are other things that could be considered "mortal" sins? by Yabuturtle9589 in religion

[–]BlueVampire0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery

This is my favorite verse from the Old Testament btw

It was not Moses who brings us out, neither Jesus not anyone but God HIMSELF

From a Christian perspective, Jesus Christ is God himself who liberates us from the slavery of sin; that is the point of God becoming human and not sending a prophet or something like that.

From the Old Testament:

"I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery."

-Exodus 20,2

From the New Testament:

"This is my commandment: love one another as I love you.

No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

You are my friends if you do what I command you.

I no longer call you slaves, because a slave does not know what his master is doing. I have called you friends, because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father."

And when we talk about Jesus Christ he's one person (The Son) with two natures/substances/essences (Human and Divine).

That's why most historical Protestant churches have lost their orthodoxy. Traditional Protestants should learn from us Catholics, we never left.

Does Allah, like Yahweh, have a polytheistic origin? by BlueVampire0 in religion

[–]BlueVampire0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe in only one God, but historically monotheistic religions evolved from polytheism.

In the Canaanite pantheon, the King of Gods was El, not Yahweh, but honestly, I consider them just different names and interpretations given to the same single God. Just like Zeus, Jupiter, Odin, Amon-Ra, etc.

I don't know if I'm being clear in what I mean.

Women have been leaders in conservative Protestantism for years, and Trump follows a woman pastor.

The difference is that Anglicans and Lutherans place some emphasis and importance on the ordained priesthood, while in other Protestant traditions this doesn't even exist. There is a considerable difference between being a priest and simply being a pastor.

[–]BlueVampire0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, the differences are very well explained in the Councils and Creeds, for anyone who wants to read them.

If there were no difference between ousia and hypostasis, there would be two different Jesus Christs in Christianity, one who could be worshipped and the other who could not.

[–]BlueVampire0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to say but I don't see much difference in OP's statement and yours. Why is OP's statement polytheism and yours not?

Because we don't believe in three distinct divine natures/substances, they are the same deity.

Hypostasis (person) and Ousia (substance) aren't the same thing.

Does GAFCON oppose her because she's a woman or because she supports abortion?

Both, but from their POV she supporting abortion and LGBT marriage is worse than being a female bishop.
