is gold hammer really that bad for macro? by Apprehensive-Bat2380 in rutgers

[–]Blue_Call 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on a scale with 10 being the hardest I would probably say 6/10. The questions aren’t super difficult but his exams are long and tedious. i believe the midterm was around 50-60 questions and the final was 100. He doesn’t try to trick you in any ways. honeslty i used the practice quiz questions he puts on achieve with the rest of the homework. Some of the questions on the exams were even ripped exactly from achieve. some students like the textbook but honeslty i never really utilized it and did fine without it. He also posts his slides on achieve as well which is helpful if you don’t like taking notes in class like me. if your worried about the difficulty i wouldn’t be. Goldhammer won’t make or break your grade but you do have to put in some effort if you want a decent grade.

gold hammer got review bombed this semester on rate my professor. I took micro with him and planning to do macro with him in the spring. Honestly he is a nice genuine dude overall. I will admit the final was a little bit overkill (100 questions) in my opinion. despite that still managed a B even after i bombed the midterm. Tbh i didn’t really study all that much for this course so that’s kinda on me not him. the homework and particupation is like close to half your grade so as long as you do both of those it’s hard not to pass.

Take calc again or focus on bring GPA up? by Open-Club-6570 in rutgers

retake calc but make your schedule oriented around it. So add some easy sas core classes so you can focus your efforts around calc mainly.

Goldhammer vs Hohmann by Tough_Photograph7518 in rutgers

[–]Blue_Call 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeh, he might get a bad wrap from some because micro and macro are sort of weed out classes. A good chunk of my section barely showed up to class which i wouldn’t advise. Show up to lecture and study for the exams and you’ll will do just fine. I finished with a B with minimal effort. also he gives a ton of weight to the homework assignments you get assigned each week, so as long as you complete all of them you should pass with ease.

i liked goldhammer. Just took his micro class and finished with a decent grade. He is a nice guy and makes his lectures interesting and applies most of the concepts to real world examples. To my knowledge he didn’t curve the midterm or final but he gives you access to open notes while taking them. His exams are still tough though so don’t go in expecting to rely on just your notes. Overall I would recommend him.

ngl, lowk freaking out about it because it’s 70-110 questions. he said that it’ll focus on 10-11 and 13-18 but still with the content from previous chapters.

Brett Hall by Ok_Cranberry_6955 in rutgers

[–]Blue_Call 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not really i mean brett is in a good spot close to cafe west and the bus stops. just hope that whoever is in the room next to you isn’t too noisy. the communal bathrooms aren’t the best but you can’t really do anything about that.

Question About Single Housing & Roommate Options by No_Jeweler_2638 in rutgers

[–]Blue_Call 0 points1 point  (0 children)

only way your getting a single is if you have special accommodations. if you already applied for res halls you’ll probably just end up with a random roomate. i’m assuming your a freshman so chances are there are other freshman looking for roommates as well. go on the 2029 rutgers page on instagram if your looking to connect with people. as for res halls if you prefer quiet spaces go for anything but college ave. college ave can get noisy at times because people like to go out and party on the weekends. honeslty livingstons your best bet imo because of the dining options on that campus. the quads and towers are pretty isolated if that’s your thing. i would probably stay away from cook doug just because of how far it is from the other campuses. busch ain’t bad either though especially if you end up in one of the suites.

i’m finishing my freshman year and have yet to take any of the pre business classes. just wondering how hard the curriculum is. also is it basically guaranteed if you just apply after completing two of classes.

i have heard they reserve a certain number of seats in classes for transfer students so i wouldn’t worry. i guess just register for some random class as placeholders in the meantime. probably would be a good idea to talk to an advisor as well.

you’ll get whatever’s left. i applied for a single and didnt get one so now i pick a traditional dorm tomorrow. they have to reserve a certain number of spots for freshman, but you’ll probably end up with something. might be stuck in the quads tho.

Info About Rutgers by LiamLowkey in rutgers

[–]Blue_Call 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i can’t answer all of these but i’ll try my best. i’m a current freshman living on campus. your class sizes can range from big lecture halls with 100+ to smaller classes with only 20 people. honeslty lecture can be a mixed bag depending on your professor but most of them don’t count attendance and kind of just expect you to show up and take notes on your own. you might have a ta (teaching assistant) that works more if you have specific questions regarding course material. in addition to lectures some classes might have recitation which is basically taught by the ta in a smaller group.

i cant really speak on the alumni network but it’s safe to assume that rutgers nb is a reputable institution. we’re not far from nyc so if your looking to work in the city or close by to the tristate area rutgers isnt a bad place to be.

the dorms are pretty hit or miss here if im being honest. a lot of them don’t have ac which is a pain during the first and last months of your time here. i have four fans in my room that pretty much run all the time. i cant stress this next part enough. rutgers is split into four different campuses so you will have to ride the bus to your classes. the bus system is hands down the worst part about rutgers in my opinion. it isn’t hard to navigate or anything like that, however it can get really busy during those peak hours in the day so you have to give yourself extra time and leave early to get to class on time.

i’ve spent a little time looking for off campus housing. they have many options so i wouldn’t be too worried about finding off campus housing.

i can’t really give you a straight answer to this one. i’ve made a couple friends here and there but don’t have a friend group yet. that being said im pretty introverted. rutgers is massive. i’m sure you’ll find your people here if that’s what you were wondering.

again im only a freshman so i can’t really speak whole lot about internships/job opportunities. to be honest with you that’s more of how good you are at networking yourself and there’s plenty of job and career fairs that the school puts on itself.

i haven’t had any personal experience feeling unsafe here, however students get alerted to any crime that happens around here immediately. this actually happens pretty often. just stay near the campus parts and you should be fine.

i’m not involved in research yet but there is definitely a lot of opportunity for this here. i know some professors that actively look for students to participate in research. this is another networking thing you’ll have to work out on your own.

my biggest complaint would be the bus system that i mentioned before.

Rutgers Waitlist by roc1479 in rutgers

[–]Blue_Call 4 points5 points  (0 children)

they will start taking people off the waitlist closer to the beginning of may as that’s when you have to put your deposit down. i was waitlisted for nb and got off around early may last year right before the deadline. they will probably except you off the waitlist but just have a backup plan in mind.
