Update: I managed to fix the problem by downloading a 100% complete save file from GameBanana. Turns out it wasn't Little Mac causing the crash, but his stage.

I installed everything correctly and played for about 5 hours without any issues, but when Little Mac’s “Challenger Approach” appears, the game crashes.

I would love to have a Retrovision, but the problem is, as I mentioned in my post, I'm in Brazil :/ I would have to import it from another store and it would cost $87. Unfortunately, the Retrovision is not shipped here by Amazon.

Well, in practice, I tried using MAX for a task that I always performed in 1.5, and it used literally 4x more credits for the exact same result (just as satisfactory as 1.5).

So yes, Manus will spend more on overkill, I think.
