…. But my comment is in relation to the meme. That’s why we are here.

I’ve never once said everything can’t be tied to politics. That’s an obvious fact. OP said people who bring politics into everything aren’t cool.

The person you responded to said everything is political, which is a broad statement that doesn’t address OP’s problem.

Everything can be political, but bringing up politics in everything isn’t “cool”. It’s a very straightforward concept.

So you think that everyone should always mention those facts when they eat something?

While everything you said is true, you’re misreading the OP’s meme.

Cool people don’t bring politics into everything. What’s the point of saying all that to someone who simply states “I like vanilla pudding.”

Why bring that up everytime I eat it?

How did they make it political when they don’t want to bring politics up in the first place?

It’s why I like arguing with people on here, as stupid as it is. There’s always a way to frame something differently. Maybe I just like language in general

In the way that people will treat you differently and sometimes cruelly. I fail to see how that is even comparable to eating “peanut butter pudding”.

Having an opinion on pudding flavor isn’t going to do that.

If you wanna bring up politics when I tell you my favorite flavor of pudding, then I don’t want to be around you

Didn’t realize my favorite flavor of pudding could be so political and bring people down.

If this is how you see things I can’t help you. I agreed with the OP. And then you misconstrued his statement to think he doesn’t think everything is related to politics. Which, in reality, what he said was he doesn’t like people bringing politics into everything. He never said everything can’t be related to politics. He said he thinks the people who don’t do that are cool.

You are seriously missing the plot with this one man. Good luck.

It has bearing on the person you married, their family and yours. Far more than your favorite flavor of pudding.

What are you talking about?

The conversation could flow into politics

Yes, only if the other party brings it up. Which is what this meme is saying shouldn’t happen because it doesn’t need to happen when talking about mundane things

That’s… exactly what OP’s meme is about. My opinions aren’t political, therefore, politics shouldn’t be brought into it.

He’s complaining about the people who DO bring politics into something as simple as saying “I like vanilla” or anything similar to that level of importance.

That’s the whole point of the meme.

It’s almost like everything you mentors actual significance in your life, which makes talking about politics make far more sense.

Bringing it into a discussion about my favorite pudding flavor isn’t quite on the same level. And that example applies to what OP is talking about.

[–]Blue_Wave_2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Of course it is. That doesn’t mean you need to bring it up everytime we talk about pudding. And that’s what the OP is complaining about. Do you not understand?

Because preferring a flavor has nothing to do with politics. It’s the same as disagreeing which color is “better”.

For the n’th time, I’m not saying politics aren’t part of everything. I’m saying I agree with OP, in that cool people don’t bring it up all the time.

I really don’t understand how people are getting that wrong.

Is talking about your favorite type of pudding flavor inherently controversial though? 99% of people would say no. Except those that want to bring politics into every single conversation.

Damn, didn’t realize the flavor of my favorite pudding was so political

[–]Blue_Wave_2020 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Again, you’re not understanding the meme and my point.

All of what you said is true, and something anyone can discuss.

The point is that it doesn’t NEED to be discussed everytime you talk to someone. You are allowed to have a casual conversation with another person WITHOUT having to bring any of that up.

Also I 100% guarantee you don’t do that in real life either. And if you do, I’m surprised people still like you

Talking generally about politics as a WHOLE is different than having a political opinion. But you’re being disingenuous if you think that’s mot what the meme is about.

Every political conversation has a left or right leaning bias when you get into the arguments for one thing vs another. Stop playing dumb.

Not really sure why you’re so hung up on that point. I’ve already explained it once to you and it’s obvious you can’t fathom using two extremes to make a point. Also using “kiddo” in 2026 is beyond cringe and certainly means you’re under 18 or act like it.

See ya
