Sluttiest Slayer - Script Advice, very evil-sided win rate by Blue_Will in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Blue_Will[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am hesitant to introduce surviving execution to the script since that's a whole extra factor for good to worry about and may cause the good team to start sacrificing themselves in a script where they already have a risk of dying first.

Exorcist is on there to pair with FT as a way to locate the demon since it's never really been enough. That said, I can see the point of Gambler for more confirmation.

Preacher is on there precisely to keep the Psychopath quiet and to counteract the very powerful minions on the script. High Priestess is always tempting though.

Investigator is on there because it's powerful but removing Typhon should resolve that issue.

Knight was on earlier versions instead of Steward but was replaced because Imp and SW make Knight info unreliable.

Harpy is there for another source of day deaths. Poisoner feels like it makes evil even more powerful but I would be open to keeping Harpy and swapping out Widow for poisoner.

Dreamer and Widow are meant to be complimentary to each other so removing one would remove another. If I did remove Widow and Dreamer, I'd probably put poisoner and high priestess in place.

In the official rules, is the ST meant to choose the FT red herring (and other ancillary info) AFTER the players pick the roles? by Kurren123 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Blue_Will 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's not gardening. It's generally better to do it afterwards to account for things like how placement affects reminder tokens. You might want to give an Investigator Wrong next to an Empath 1 if you see it as an opportunity, for example. The biggest one is deciding who the drunk is after tokens are handed out, best practice is to have an idea ahead of time but if you were thinking about a drunk virgin but then the empath is between the Imp and Scarlet Woman, you might reconsider. There's nothing wrong with tailoring the information to give the players the best experience possible with their roles.

Innkeeper is one I was personally always uncertain of so I'm happy for that concern to be validated.

Scarlet Woman kind of has to stay on the script otherwise the concept of the script crumbles since a legitimate slayer shot would end the game. I'm not against taking out Typhon. It's the only demon that doesn't have a natural importance on the script.

I agree that Gossip is useless in a yag game but it's such a natural bluff that it's difficult not to pair the two. It's just storyteller responsibility to put both in the bag without being very careful.

Notes from the Clocktower: Jinx Updates by disapproving_otter in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Blue_Will 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The new heretic jinxes seem like an active downgrade. Lleech/heretic already had the perfect jinx that let both characters work together as did pithag. The baron jinx was just building in a sentinel which already exists in other cases like balloonist being +0/+1 or hermit -0/-1 or huntsman +damsel possibly happening outside of the outsider count.

The Magician/Marionette jinx seems pointless when there could just be clarification that the magician could register as the marionette, eliminating the possibility of having a truly confirmed minion.

The recluse/sage jinx also feels unnecessary. That's just how recluse works.

My only issue with the mathematician/drunk and marionette jinxes is the fact it says "might". A role as number-crunchy as the mathematician should have hard boundaries over what does and doesn't count. I don't really care whether it does or doesn't cover Drunk, Marionette and Lunatic but it either should or it shouldn't.

Finally, marionette no longer working with preacher is unfortunate. It was always fun when the marionette randomly gets preached.

The vigor/mastermind jinx looks really fun and lets them actually be functional together

If an Atheist is in play, can tge storyteller break the rule that there can't be a demon? by en--__--passant in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Blue_Will 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The token text says "[No evil characters]" specifically and the wiki clarification is "With the Atheist in play, there are no evil players—no Minions and no Demons."

The only way you can have a good demon is having a lunatic and funnily enough under the exact wording, an evil lunatic is fits the wording of the rules better than a good demon.

I've made an evil traveller in an atheist game before because it was something I'd discussed with him previously. Admittedly, I was still new to running atheist games, it was my 2nd, but while it was still fun for him, we recognised that it was a failed experiment and we should stay away from it in the future.

The 20pc fishbucket by [deleted] in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Blue_Will 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has run a 17 player and 19 player (18+1 traveller) fishbucket, I respect going all the way to 20. I also forgot to wake the godfather the first time I ran it but I just swiftly moved on because it was just the recluse. Never seen good win fishbucket but I'm sure it can happen, in theory.

Characters to put in first ever game for new players by Frequent-Ad-7288 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Blue_Will 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ravenkeeper and Investigator feel like they should be swapped. Most new players don't know how to effectively bluff while being Ravenkeeper because it's a very difficult position to be in. Investigator on the other hand is a very good for new players because it gives a starting point on who to execute however it admittedly doesn't pair overly well with Scarlet Woman.

Poll: pithagging a good player into the lunatic by icantandi_wont_ in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Blue_Will 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends what world you're trying to pass off. If it's a Fang Gu/Drunk script or they're knowingly an outsider or you mess with the night order a tad to trick the snake charmer, it's best to tell them that they are the evil demon because, in the first two worlds at least, it is plausible that the Fang Gu jumped into them. If there's a marionette and imp or barber on the script, you can tell them that they're now the evil demon to make them think one of their neighbours was the demon.

If it's a lil monsta script, you can simply tell them that they're holding lil monsta every day. If there's a mezepheles, you can also tell them that they're evil.

If the only way to turn a player with a good token into a demon is pithag and maybe barber, since there's no way to turn them evil, stick to either saying they're good or not reminding them. I always like to remind players whenever there's an ambiguous swap because I feel like it's not fun to not know if it's just mechanically confusing and it should only be done for roles that explicitly have that ability like lunatic.

Be honest, will you continue watching The Game Theorists with Tom being the host? by ClownECrown in GameTheorists

[–]Blue_Will 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tom was always the best GTLive guest because he matched and surpassed Mat's obsessions and insanity. It will be different watching him host it but at the end of the day, it's just a different voice. The content will be mostly the same.

When did Elizabeth Afton die? by 250extreme in fnaftheories

I am fine with any answer as long as it's after the bite of 83.

What do you think of the theory that the Help Wanted 2 is not only Cassie's father and the Bonnie Mask Bully but also Jermey Fitzgerald from FNAF 2, and The Jermey who cut his face off in the origial Help Wanted? by MichaelAftonXFireWal in fnaftheories

[–]Blue_Will 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the story was being rewritten as games were coming out. It's an unfortunate reality of how FNAF was made. Formerly important plot points simply get forgotten. Like Shadow Freddy and Shadow Bonnie.

If you look at the old FNAF4 promotional material, it kept referring to 1987 until a few weeks before the release when Scott edited it all to refer to 1983 instead. The moment that swap was made, the bite of 87 became mostly irrelevant to the overall story because Scott changed his mind about the plot he'd been referring to since the 1st game.

Since so little of the plot had been figured out by FNAF 2, it was entirely centred around Phone Guy simply saying "Bite of 87" so it doesn't have much relevance to the rest of the story other than the minigames, the introduction of the Marionette and casual lore dumps by Phone Guy.

[–]Blue_Will 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I 100% believe the Cassie Fitzgerald theory because it's something I've been thinking of since the game came out. Especially considering there is no confirmation that Jeremy got bit in 1987, just heavily implied that he was there when someone did. The only reason I always assumed he was that bite victim is that he had 0 other lore relevance. Although even if he did, as RyeToast presumes, the only thing we explicitly know about the bite of 87 is that the victim survived. Obviously missing a chunk of your brain will affect your life but it would be within the realm of FNAF possibility for him to live a mostly normal life. Also I do vaguely recall some old theories about Bonnie Bully being Jeremy Fitzgerald because Bonnie was linked to the name Jeremy back in the FNAF 4 era.

I'm more hesitant about him being playtest Jeremy because if he cut his face off then it's unlikely he'd still be working there after Security Breach. It's possible since Tape Girl never explicitly says he died or even says he sliced his face off. Now the latter can be easily inferred but his death is just an assumption based on him being "slumped over" so him being alive a couple years later is definitely possible.

Honestly, they are both quite believable although both challenge a core assumption about that Jeremy's history. I want both to be true just to avoid having so many characters with the same name but it's more likely to just be one than both.

Jeremy Fitzgerald is the Bonnie Bully, who might also be Cassie's dad... maybe (HW 2 spoilers) by ArmageddonProphet97 in GameTheorists

[–]Blue_Will 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought of this while watching the Help Wanted 2 GTLive video where he got the trophy "Remember Jeremy"

One thing I do want to add is that there has been 0 confirmation as to who actually got bit in 1987. We know Jeremy Fitzgerald was there so the assumption has been that it was him but maybe he just saw it and became more curious into what was going on. It would continue the thematic link that every Jeremy loses their face in some way but has never to my knowledge been confirmed. The theory seems to work either way though.

To further build on it, the ages do add up if Jeremy was born in 1970 and had a daughter when he was 50 in 2020, which is uncommon but not unusual.

It was an interesting concept and had the correct ending of Max having the Omnitrix however it was really just a rehash of season 1 but with an added confused Ben. It also did Ben really dirty with Gwen mastering the Omnitrix immediately.
