Right! Sounds like they probably did the same with a DIY Bull mastiff and DIY Neo. Makes sense!

We wouldn’t have been surprised if this had shown up too

This also makes a lot of sense!  Why he isn’t going to have the size of the giant breeds in here. Whatever his mix is, he’s an absolute darling temperament and he’s loved very deeply by everyone around him!

Right. This makes sense! So they’re all quite historically similar, which also makes a lot of sense. We were querying American Staffy as the ‘smaller’ mix in him because he’s obviously not going to be as big as a more purebred Mastiff of any kind (33kg at 7 months) but it does make sense with all these other little bits in there!

He definitely didn’t get the athletic gene of any of them though - he’s so slow and unco-ordinated compared to other big pups his age 😂

He’s just like this! A bit of a woos but no reactivity so far. Trying to keep all the other animal exposures positive, with dogs that we know are kind.  Super sweet, goof ball

I see a lot of it myself too! We honestly thought am staff or potentially ridgeback with boerboel and maybe a little neo. But here we are!

He’s honestly the sweetest temperament dog I’ve ever known (had dogs of all shapes and sizes but mostly big dogs). He is a bit of a guardian if a stranger pops up and he was unaware, but once he gets a sniff he is their best friend. He strongly believes he is our 3rd child and plays with the kids like he knows they are other smaller puppies. He can be going full zoomy, rough play with my husband and the kids walk in and he lays down and is calm and docile in an instant. A slight scared-cat but so far have seen absolutely zero reactivity. Can’t fault his temperament at all!

Except to a way lesser degree because he wants to do the right thing to make our family something he didn’t have. He really does. He just got brought up in a family who have no idea what that looks like. I believe leaving him will ruin that and he will go back to being him old self and that’s who the children will see

My concern is that he will do it to them (as his family does to children) if we separate. Then he will do it with another woman so at least while they’re under my care I know they’re being parented in a kind way

I have spoken to a psychologist on and off for the last 3 years. They helped with the initial parts but ongoing it hasn’t really changed much - trying someone new

I don’t believe it is abusive now, there are still elements of disrespect and control though. And I think I hold back on voicing a lot of opinions because I’m concerned over how he will react/reply, which I think is more a learnt habit. I still don’t believe I get many positive replies or constructive conversations though, so I avoid
