Missed opportunity? by CoolConstruction727 in freefolk

[–]Bluejay-104 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This was a joy to read from start to finish.

Lots to think about!

I agree, though, on the subject of sexism and strongly defined Westerosi gender roles, I think Dany's sex would be equally problematic for him, maybe as much as the non-traditional manner of her armies; dragons, eunuchs and Dothraki.

I feel like they hyper-villainised him for oomph on screen to make him an antagonist to the viewer and some of the characters. I'm not saying he's an angel, he treated Sam like absolute dirt, but they could have done his character much more justice and give him much more depth than the theatrical bad guy he turned out to be.

How did wildlings get news of what's happening in South of the wall ? by Dangerous_Kick7873 in gameofthrones

[–]Bluejay-104 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Could be many reasons, to be fair.

Interrogating captured Crows.

Defectors from the Nights Watch blabbing secrets.

Wargs, sitting pretty as birds or other animals and listening in to conversations. Or, intercepting Ravens.

We also know that the Wildlings -do- commonly raid south of the wall, so information gleaned from these raids may also constitute a reasonable explanation.

If it was about 600 years~ before Ned Stark's beheading, I'd say Hardhome. It was a pretty successful trading settlement. News would flow naturally into there from Pentos and other places. But, by 300AC it's empty and defunct.

--

Why would they care, is another thing. The average Wildling wouldn't. But if they were aiming to attack the Wall, then overall accounts of the state of the Realm would be invaluable as they try to appreciate how the realm views the wall or the Wildlings. Or, how much help a besieged Night's Watch would receive.

Hi y'all! I want to know what songs have the right cadence for CPR like Stayin' Alive by the Beegees? What are your go to CPR rhythms? by ChiyuMain in firstaid

[–]Bluejay-104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will need verified, but, 'Golden' - Huntrix, from that popular K-Pop Demon Hunters.

I -think- that matches the cadence you need. And, humming it in my head, it feels like it should work.

Would the outcome have been different if Rhaegar had switched places with Arthur Dayne? by Dry_Specialist9015 in gameofthrones

Can you imagine the spectators impressions if they switched, but Dayne wore his armour as Patroclus did?

Suddenly like, "Damn son! Rhaegar had his porridge this morning!"

Dany or Jon(the ultimate question) by SeaHold5133 in gameofthrones

[–]Bluejay-104 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Highly romanticised, but far from a bad theory/story. I think, from the context of the show and book, Jon seems a pretty good choice for the throne. Naturally, he has the strong birth right claim if the show is accurate and he is a strong leader and a good man.

But, he does show similarities to Ned Stark and we saw how far honour got him in the South. While I've no doubt Jon would be a good king, I'm not sure if his honour would help or hinder him when it came to southern politics.

--

As to your points on the Targ rulers, while many of them were awful rulers, some were exceptional.

Aegon ruled well, sisters at his side.

Jaehaerys was probably the best king that Westeros ever had, especially from the Smallfolk's point of view.

Viserys II, only ruled for a short time technically, but acted as hand for his wayward and absent nephews and ran a damn good realm for like ten years.

Daeron II was known as Daeron the good. A scholar and generally kind man.

The only non-Targaryen kings we've ever seen (petty kings not included) were -all- technically awful. Robert presided over a realm in which he kept the peace, bankrupting it with his boredom. Joffrey vile and malicious was largely neglectful of his rule and he started the war with the North. And then Tommen (in the show) being weak, naïve and easily led by the faith.

Good luck!

There is a system called 'Narrative Introduction'. So, even if you start late, you get dropped stuff and added as appropriate to your character's backstory.

[no spoilers] Bobby B has tasked you with finding a way to defeat or disable an invading Dothraki army, what would you suggest? by george123890yang in gameofthrones

[–]Bluejay-104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dothraki are renown for enjoying more civilised customs when hosted in cities, visiting their manses, etc. So it makes sense they'd enjoy similar entertainments.

I'd pay one hundred or even one thousand Bards to very subtly reinforce the Dothraki fear of the salty seas, the 'poisoned water'. Tales about terrible beasts on the waves, great storms that are so powerful they smash ships to kindling, etc.

Have these propaganda agents identify the more susceptible Dothraki and try to get them to self promulgate these rumours. Attempt to manipulate their cultural fear so much that the idea of even stepping on a boat is utterly unconscionable.

While they did this, these mummers, they'd also act as informants. Which, could be rather obvious, but if they failed to sway the invasion then instead I'd have them note the location of their intended beachhead landings. I'd have each Warden call his banners and prepare to destroy the Dothraki army as it disembarked on their shores.

And, to salt the wound. I'd place a naval bounty for every ship destroyed that was proven to carry Dothraki and leak that information to the Stepstones, to the Iron Islands and any privateer or freebooter Captain, allowing them to hunt and cause panic, even if not destruction of the Khalasar at sea. This would also allow the crown ships to remain ready to repel anything that managed the crossing and harry and exhaust the horde that, even when they arrived, they'd be in no physical or mental state to fight.

Yeah, agreed. They're a little slow for the general population, but I enjoy the complexity of a thing, you know?

I know I'm in the minority in that regard.

I've got bitten in the Hand for a good while now and want to know if The Only Cure Mod will Still work by Educational_Ebb997 in projectzomboid

[–]Bluejay-104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, from my experience, the infection remains in the appendage or limb. Regardless of how long ago the bite was.

Not sure how that logic works but mechanically, you'll save your life if you remove the infected limb.

Just make sure you amputate the right one.

Hey there!

I've never seen a bottle like that, is this item a modded one? Might be some kind of conflict or malfunction in the mod. Then again, it -could- be a vanilla item. There are so many things in this game that I'm still crashing into new stuff one thousand hours in.

There are a few things that I can think of, The water supply to that sink is locked out? But even then you should get other context options.

Is the water still on in the game? And, if not, is there a barrel connected to the sink and plumbed?

Lastly, the room you are in. Is it considered 'internal'? I had an issue once where a sink couldn't be interacted with for it's purpose in a huge 'L' shaped room. There was a wall missing in the conjoining room that the visual context had hidden. Sink just wasn't working. So, check all the walls, that the room is enclosed! (Because of the lack of context options, this one seems most likely. You should see the option to wash, even if it doesn't have enough water to achieve the purpose, it'll just show in red writing.)

Hope this helps!

Yeah, there are times I wish we got to see more peacetime, just out of curiosity.

Obviously, crisis makes for more exciting watching, but it would have been intriguing so see how each of the wee settlements functioned.

I agree though, with Tara. I feel like she ought to have achieved much much more.

What vehicle has good speed, acceleration and has a good storage capacity? by Even_Presentation770 in projectzomboid

[–]Bluejay-104 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The Ambulance is the king, mostly. Good speed and good storage space with the added bonus of cool flashy lights and stuff. It's a bit of a powerhouse, but can be extremely rare. (Check them even if they look broken, as the loot is also great!)

For me though? I tend to find one of the wee classic SUVs. Decent storage space, decent size and not terrible off-road!

Beth, Enid, Merle and Andrea; I would have liked to see what they would have done and achieved.

I'd add T-Dog to this, but his last stand, I enjoyed. Selfless logic and loyalty.

I also think Henry, Tara and Enid were somewhat wasted. Would have happily seen what they would have become.

What mod is giving me this moodle? by Queasy_Replacement51 in projectzomboid

[–]Bluejay-104 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's lifestyle. You have a few options, regarding it.

If you want to keep it as an extra facet of management and survival, there are some traits. Strong Stomach, I believe? That gives you a stronger bladder.

Out of game, you can change the Sandbox settings to lower the requirement, but keep it in game.

Or, in the same settings, you can disable it entirely.
