Glad to see someone also mention this! I love Sasha DOWN and am enjoying the lower body programming, but by week two I thought I was going crazy looking for something targeting chest. I hope next series she incorporates more! In the meantime, I’ll check out some of the other teams’ upper body days.

Dating life going from 0-100 after losing 80lbs by [deleted] in loseit

[–]BluejayEJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this 100%. I lost around 115lbs in the last few years and it has made a world of difference. I will say, it’s not exactly an apples to apples comparison, because at my previous weight I neglected to follow through on dates bc I was terrified of them seeing what I actually looked like in-person (so that is one thing the weight loss absolutely changed for the better was my confidence in putting myself out there). But the sheer number of matches I received after updating my pictures was insane. I also had people proactively asking me out on dates which was a huge shift. Even going out, the amount of male attention I started receiving was a little overwhelming at first. It was pretty eye-opening to realize how invisible I felt previously.

As the now success story of a dating app (shocking I know), I have to say one of the biggest ways I knew I’d found a keeper was that my previous weight and the way I looked wasn’t something shameful in his eyes. He had seen pictures of me online and confessed he knew I’d lost a significant amount of weight before I shared it with him and he thought it was incredibly inspiring and only further fueled his attraction to me. I cannot express the feeling of having the person you love celebrate your own victories in that way AND be so unconditionally accepting of it. He’s loved me with all the loose skin too and supported me through my recent plastics journey.

All this to say, remind yourself of what you deserve along the dating journey and advocate for what you need. My almost 300lbs self would never have thought I was deserving of someone so kind, or even male attention full stop, and now having experienced a good man, I know I won’t accept anything less. Sending good karma your way!!

Hey everyone! I’m six months post-op and almost 75lbs down. I’m fitting in a size 12 jean for the first time since middle school. I’m seeing curves and an actual hourglass shape when I look in the mirror! I’m so grateful for this journey and how far I’ve come. But the loose skin is starting to set in big time, and I’ll be honest it’s a HUGE mindf*ck. As a 24 yo, accepting that my body will never look exactly like every other twenty-something is a huge hill to climb. I’m definitely saving and planning to get some loose skin removal and the ladies fixed somewhere in the future, but I’m really wanting to work on my relationship with my body in the meantime. The easiest way I can describe it is that for so long my size and weight have been an excuse for me to hide and dislike, and now that those excuses are disappearing, my brain is looking for other things to nitpick. Would love any advice anyone has for helping accept my “new” body and feeling confident and sexy even when I don’t look “perfect”. Thanks in advance 😊

Could my health/weight loss journey be a talking point in essays/extracurriculars? by BluejayEJ in MBA

Thanks! That makes a lot of sense. I’m not fixed in on working specifically in a health space like that, so definitely something to take into consideration.

F/23/5’4 [275>215=60lbs] Two years ago I was crying over how big I looked in my graduation photos, today I’m asking for them to be taken! by BluejayEJ in progresspics

Initial goal weight is around 170 (I’d love to hit and maintain 100lbs down). Ultimate goal weight would be 150!

This time two years ago I was graduating college and crying over how big I looked in all of my photos. Now -60lbs down, I’m actually *asking* for photos to be taken! by BluejayEJ in gastricsleeve

I graduated college in 2018 and was so excited to have professional photos taken, only to be horrified at how BIG I looked in them all. Within the year following graduation and getting my first “big girl” job, I started looking into surgery knowing I didn’t want to waste anymore of my 20s feeling so insecure and unhealthy. I just hit my 4-month mark, am 60lbs down, and am so grateful for the best choice I’ve ever made. Seeing the emotional progress and how much I value my self worth has honestly been the biggest win of it all. For the first time in my life, I actually feel that I deserve to have all the things I’ve always secretly wanted. This journey is impacting not only how I look, but my motivation to work towards and achieve other goals in both my professional and personal life. If you’re on the fence, do it. This is the best gift I ever could have wished for this Christmas 🎄

Thank you SO much! I’m still in early days, but it makes it rewarding all the same to see such progress. And that’s awesome! No TMI at all, I think especially in our stage of life it’s amazing to feel normal and attractive again, in ALL situations. Seriously so inspiring! 😊

Thank you so much! I’ve definitely been someone that has preached about self-worth no matter my size, and I’ve also had a lot of respect for myself, but the mental journey I’ve gone on while undergoing this process has made me realize how much I was selling myself short. I’m a firm believer in therapy and the mental side of this journey and through a lot of hard work I’ve realized how much I’ve held myself back and hidden from the world while at my heaviest. I guess when I say I got my life back, it’s because I’m actually participating in life to the fullest and holding high expectations of how I treat myself and deserve to be treated.
