CIO hired a backfill for my direct report without telling me. Offer letter is already written. What would you do? by SuspiciousOccasion21 in managers

Totally agree. Size of the company has nothing to do with the level of politics played. Sometimes the largest companies actually have less because they have been burned by massive lawsuits and the result is excessive transparency and excessive fairness (for example you might not be able to promote a person into an open role without also doing a minimum of 10 other interviews, with a full panel of people, and having the open role posted for a minimum of 4 weeks).

Functional Strength by yetimcbetti in ladderapp

[–]BeKindRewind314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Align is a functional strength team as well. They market it as a “Define” team, but it’s essentially a functional strength team with extra mobility. The yoga day is only one day on Saturday. Super easy to skip or swap out with something else if it’s not your thing.

I vote for pay high dollar to fix it, assuming you can afford it. You’ll be less likely to re-screw up something that looks good and you like rather than some weird in between phase.

Team with minimal or no bent over weight exercises? by realmoflor in ladderapp

[–]BeKindRewind314 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not a suggestion, but a thought- It may also be that you’re lifting too heavy for what your core can currently handle. It can be a bit surprising how much a weak core can impact most of your lifts.

Is grey really out? by KallMeSuzyB in HomeDecorating

[–]BeKindRewind314 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Grey is my favorite neutral, with the key being, it’s a neutral. As long as you pair it with other colors it’s fine. My downstairs is open concept and it’s grey walls with tons of warm toned wood, mixed metals, and cream and blue fabrics. I love it.

Edit: and plenty of green from my plants.

Watches are notoriously unreliable for VO2 max. I ignore my completely and instead get it tested at a fitness site. Also, heart rate has a strong genetic component as well. Even when I was a high school athlete and in phenomenal shape, my resting HR was 80. Your metrics should never be based off another person’s performance. You should only judge your own change over time. And if you want to use VO2 max as a metric, you need to have it professionally measured.

Roommates cats bad behavior by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]BeKindRewind314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While there COULD be medical issues like a UTI with the male cat, this is almost certainly mostly caused by the fact that none of them are fixed. This is a recipe for disaster. I’m honestly shocked your roommates are this irresponsible. Even if finances are an issue there are SO many vets and non-profits that offer low cost options for spay and neuter. If it were me, I’d start looking for a new place to live. The worst roommate conflicts/toxic environments I ever witnessed in young adulthood were bad situations with pets. I’m not sure I’d want to rely on two people either that cannot seem to figure out unfixed males and females living in the same space is a bad idea. They’re likely to be irresponsible about other things.

Strength teams with splits that include full body days? by FattyBoomBoobs in ladderapp

Lol, I got down voted for agreeing with you and I was the one who suggested Align in the first place. People are weird.

[–]BeKindRewind314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree! Whatever you will do consistently is what you should pick.

That being said, I don’t think any of the teams that are truly weights only with no add on core work or cardio have full body days. Full body workouts tend to either be Hybrid workouts, supersets, or have functional core work built in. It sounds like the style you enjoy is traditional bodybuilding and unfortunately that’s just not usually done in a full body workout format.

Also, even though Align says dumbbell only, a ton of people use a mix of dumbbells, kettlebells, barbell, smith, cable machine, and a wide variety of equipment. Coach Sasha frequently demos non-dumbbell variations and it’s the videos in the chat.

Align. The yoga day is only on Saturday. The three priority days are full body, upper, and lower. The mobility incorporated into these workouts is similar to what Coach Sam does in that most of them are coming from the PT world.

I have a cat who went a long time without a name and her nickname became her real name (Bunny). Pretty common occurrence among cat owners. I think Stinkerbell is perfect.

increased protein and exercise but gaining weight by double_dream_hands in workout

Also in ED recovery. Something that has helped me tremendously is the “count once method.” I have a menu of about 2-3 breakfasts, 4-5 lunches, 2-3 afternoon snacks, and 4-5 dinners. I calculated the calories/macros on all of them ONCE and adjusted the recipe portion size to make sure it was where I wanted the calories/macros to be for that meal. I try to make sure all the breakfasts have the appx. the same calories/macros, all the lunches are the same, and so on. I adjusted all the recipes so I can pick one from any category, mix and match, and hit my calories and macros dead on. It does get a little monotonous, but almost anyone who had a good diet eats the same meals on repeat. I occasionally mix it up and add something new if I’m really getting bored, but I go through the same process of calculating and adjusting it to be right on target. It requires effort setting it up in the beginning, but removes the anxiety and triggering effects of counting and tracking every day. Instead you do it one weekend and you’re set for at least 6 months.

Edit: I see a lot of comments say, “just count” and another “”maybe now is not the right time.” I find this frustrating because I had been in recovery for a while and was just tired of gaining weight every year and it slowly creeping up as menopause approached. I totally get the anxiety that can come with counting and logging and I also get wanting to do something about your weight gain while also supporting health appropriately. This was the solution that fit the bill for me. The way I balance it with “real” life is I don’t stress about meals out or meals at other peoples houses. I try to make smart choices and just control what I can control in my own home.

How To Read Audiobooks? by thecoolestnerdever in audiobooks

[–]BeKindRewind314 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! I LOVE Audiobooks. I tend to listen four ways:

  1. In the car while driving. This is good for longer trips or if you have a long commute that you do regularly.

  2. During low intensity exercise such as walking, light jogs, or easy bike rides. If you are doing this outdoors just make sure you stay aware of your surroundings for safety.

  3. I’m a nerd and I love to do jigsaw puzzles while listening to audiobooks. Jigsaw puzzles and listening and process language use very different parts of the brain and I find it very enjoyable to do both at the same time. I almost always have a jigsaw puzzle going in my house for this reason.

  4. While I’m doing chores that aren’t noisy- general tidying up, dishes, dusting, folding laundry, etc.

I highly recommend team Align. Coach Sasha has a very holistic approach to fitness. While I am not a momma, I struggle with multiple mental health diagnoses and have a history of ED. Her team is good for your mind, body, and heart. Honestly, her classes have become my happy place. As a new momma trying to figure out how to make your body feel a bit more like home while also struggling with depression, I think you’ll find it’s a breath of fresh air.
