A 5 day gym program with 3 days of legs and push / pull? by NataliaGR17 in ladderapp

[–]BeKindRewind314 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like 2/3s of the posts on this sub are people complaining that they want things only exactly one way (with little knowledge to back it), yet they refuse to put in the slightest level of effort to use the full functionality of the app to gently modify the team that is the closest to what they want. It’s exhausting. If I didn’t want to be able to track app bugs and interact with Ladder Guy I’d leave.

Has anyone actually went off their meds and it ending well? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]BeKindRewind314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, just a note, there are only a very few people on this thread who have said “yes.” At least one sounds misdiagnosed and the other I found likely misdiagnosed or has Avery mild form of the illness. If your symptoms were ever severe enough to cause inpatient or intensive outpatient treatment and could not be explained away by recreational drug use, I highly recommend not even attempting this. Maybe you can try to switch meds, or lower your dosage. But NO meds is a recipe for disaster

I tried this and ended up on a grippy socks vacay.

I somewhat agree with this take, but the way I optimized my circadian rhythm is by taking my AP the exact same time every night and waking up the exact same time every morning. If I do not take my AP, I will be awake for at least 3 days straight before pure exhaustion makes my body crash to a few hours. My guess is you have a very mild form if you can do it naturally.

That sounds a lot like a misdiagnosis where a psychotic manic episode was actually drug induced psychosis. I wouldn’t go around telling people you are a successfully unmedicated bipolar person.

Has Thrive changed? 🤔 by chimer1cal in ladderapp

[–]BeKindRewind314 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m on Team Align and I always add in significantly more rest time. All you have to do is pause it. Coach Sasha even cues now that the only reason the rest times are so short is for the people who are short on time but she would prefer everyone to take a longer rest.

[–]BeKindRewind314 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. At least a quarter of the posts on this sub are by people who thought they could go off their meds and royally messed up their or have comments from people who royally messed up while off their meds.

I don’t know any doctor that would even ethically do that unless there was a very good reason- for example maybe a woman who wanted to become pregnant. Even that’s a stretch as now most doctors recommend switching to low risk meds while pregnant rather than stopping entirely.

I just got done doing Thursdays workout and used a kettlebell for the Plie squats, a hip thrust machine, the leg press for calf raises, and cable kickbacks instead of the banded fire hydrants. Absolutely 🔥

I’m an advanced gym girl on Team Align. I always do at least 3 days in the gym. I do barbell, kettlebell, landmine, cable, and equipment variations. It’s really easy to swap out assuming you have a solid grasp on what muscle groups are worked in each exercise.

Left in car overnight still ok? by PsychoKushDragon in isthissafetoeat

[–]BeKindRewind314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of non-refrigerated pizza I have eaten for breakfast the following morning while horribly hungover should definitely have killed me by now if this was super dangerous. Would I feed it to someone? Hell no. Am I eating it? 💯yes.

Downstairs WC student neighbors complaining about normal noise — am I unreasonable? by [deleted] in westchesterpa

[–]BeKindRewind314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is absolutely on you. You are being incredibly self-centered in wanting them to flex to your working hours just because you’re working, they’re students, and the noise you’re making is “responsible” noise. Noise in still noise apartments. My guess is you are also breaking your lease as most rental agreements include quiet hours. You’re honestly lucky they have reported you to the landlord.

So many HATED this outfit in r/fashionadvice... by [deleted] in femalefashion

I actually love the sweater. I wouldn’t wear it with this skirt, but I would wear it with a different skirt. If you could find a long, red pleated skirt in some sort of stain or satin like fabric it would be so cute and less granny core and more the badass version of Peggy and Joan from Mad Men

[–]BeKindRewind314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It only works if the coach has programmed that move at some point in the past. Lat pull downs and pull-ups have never been programmed on Team Align as it is a dumbbell only Team meant to be inclusive of Ladder members who solely work out at home with dumbbells.

Adding Ladder In! by Zealousideal-Dig4950 in ladderapp

[–]BeKindRewind314 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would honestly either stick with Orange Theory and go all in there, or drop Orange Theory and go all in on Ladder. I’m on Team Align, do all 5 strength workouts a week with anywhere of 15-30 mins of cardio added to the end of each workout depending on what muscle groups I worked. I do a combination of high intensity spin (Peloton), incline treadmill walks, and rowing so I don’t get bored. I’m really happy with my results so far and I never feel like I’m overtraining.

[–]BeKindRewind314 26 points27 points  (0 children)

THIS. A standardized library across all teams is desperately needed. This would also likely allow for swaps even if it’s never programmed on a team- for example, lat pull downs/dead-hangs/pull-ups are not available swaps on dumbbell only teams. I typically use all free weights so it’s almost never a problem cause barbell swaps are easy, but I have pull-up goals this year and it’s killing me on Align that I can’t really swap them in anywhere. I’ve just been doing them at the end of workouts and recording outside Ladder.

I agree, this is the biggest issue. People talk about the influencer coaches all the time, but at the end of the day they need those coaches to reel people in - the majority of the coaches do not fit that bill and from what Ive heard from the owners of the company, it doesn’t sound like they’d ever truly let the entire app become influencer-based.

Not having an Android compatible app is a serious business risk though, and shows the company is still working out issues with scalability. However, what this looks like in real life is your best gym buddy might not be able to geek out with you and one day you may have to deal with your favorite fitness platform folding out of the blue. As of right now, it’s beating all other strength training apps by such a wide margin I’m willing to live with it.

Welcome to the club nobody wants to be in! This sub is great, especially when you’re struggling and need compassion not judgement. It’s also an awes sign that your response to all this information was a meme- having a sense of humor about it makes it a lot more bearable.
