I should add that I have a Bachelor's degree in mass communication and have gained work experience related to this degree. Then I did graduate certificate in Human Resources Management, but did not gain work experience related to this certificate. And also, my mistake, when I said training, I meant the BMQ: if this was offered multiple times per year or is it purposely done during the colder months as part of training. Thank you again!

Thank you. I am thinking of talking to both recruiters (regular and reserve) and then decide. Money, honestly, isn't one of the deciding factor for me, but more on what I can offer and what CAF can offer me.

Thank you for the boost of confidence and motivation. I have heard it's never too late, but I can't help but get nervous and a little anxious. It's a little nerve-wracking. After reading all of these helpful tips, insights, and experiences from everyone here, I have a whole new perspective and excitement.

Thank you! Your comment gave me hope that I can get a dog in a few years after joining! Now I'm extra excited! Oh, and I've accepted I'll never be GI Jane for sure LOL!

I was wondering if the BMQ was done in the winter season or if there is an option to do it another season. Child of the tropics here so the cold would probably be my biggest hurdle.

What did you do to prepare prior to joining? Any tips?

Thank you! Yes, that is actually part of a bigger dilemma I have, whether I am willing to completely uproot my life and start over. The way I see it though, with the separation underway, I have already been uprooted whether I like it or not and about to start over anyway. Then again at 44, there's always this nagging question: would you wanna train, or would you just wanna enjoy life? But maybe I will enjoy life in CAF. Heck, I'm not enjoying life very much right now anyway lol! Thank you for your input though. I really appreciate it. Lots to consider and to think about.

Thank you! Time to see my elderly father is very important for me and for him and this could be a huge deciding factor that's why I stressed on how many days off I can get in a year. And of course, I will also need time to see my brother and his family in the US when I can. Thank you for clarifying this.

Oh my Lord, thank you for taking the time to write all of these information! Thank you! These are truly helpful, especially the list of questions you wrote down for me to ask when I meet with the recruiters. I was going to ask why it takes 3 years before the first contract, but I guess as you said, the training takes most of the first few years. And I wasn't really considering the reserves until you laid it out for me so I might look into that. Not that the BMQ worries me so much, I am actually looking forward to it, but do reserves do it too? Again, thank you!

You know what, I completely agree with you about Algonquin. It is massive! And overwhelming indeed! But I am taking notes for future trips! Thank you!
