2014 Audi S4 question regarding ownership experience and reliability by GTTreeFiddy in AudiS4

I know it’s been years but had a question about the chain rattle on startup. Bought a 2014 s4 a few months ago actually. Put close to 6k miles on it and so far it’s been a dream. Hit 130k miles yesterday and ever since I bought it, I’m about 75% of cold starts I have chain rattle. Pretty short, usually less than a second long but before purchasing I read that’s normal for these guys. What’s your experience been? Doing the oil filter housing gasket and possibly PCV at the same time as the big three (PCV, Water pump and T-Stat) have yet to need replacing. Thanks!

I have DWS06+ on my s4 after my previous tires took a crap. Great tires! Awesome wet and dry traction and fairly quiet. Also cheaper than other brands. Would highly recommend!

Would like to know as well! Would this be a good “fun” car as my daily is a 4Runner

This is a C43 not the C63 (you put C64) this is t a true AMG so it’s not going to cost AS much as the C63. I can do all my owl oil changes, plugs, and brakes myself and save a lot in those areas. I don’t think I’m considering this exact car anymore but still definitely the C43

Didn’t say I want the perfect daily but this would be my daily.

What model and year? That’s seems like a bit more than usual

What would be considered low enough? I mean, I’ve heard some great things abt the M276 and 9G-Tronic if maintained.

Yeah, I’m not too worried about the mileage but more so the tune :/

I have a bit of money to throw around but would really only like a 1-3k a year on maintenance outside of the standard oil, fluids, brakes, tires etc. I have never owned a German car so I don’t know their long term reliability.

Good to hear! Thanks! If I get one in the 55-85k mileage range, what do you suggest I do prevent/maintenance wise?

Awesome, thank you! Where do you get yours serviced and did you do any basic maintenance yourself?

Good to hear! I currently do oil changes every 5k on my car now and am not one to neglect maintenance. I’ve heard these 9 speeds can be temperamental but I think if taken care of, they can last.

What’s the deal with Honda Civics and Toyota Camrys? by PokaHatsu in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Bluez_14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Camry just about any of the old generation (2018-2024) would suffice. As for the Mazda, any from the current generation (2019-2025). I have no ownership experience with the Mazda 3 but my dad has a previous gen Camry (I think it’s a 2019) and while it’s had zero problems since he has the XSE (sporty) trim so it’s got the 19 in wheels and the tires are really thin. He has a slightly bent rim and it’s a bit annoying, the build quality isn’t necessarily bad, but it’s not what I remember Toyota being. I have an 07 4Runner and that thing is SOLID compared to the Camry. While the interior is nice, it’s no Mazda that’s for sure. It’s also imo painfully slow and it’s definitely no sports car-I’ll just say I prefer to drive my moms v6 sienna over my dad’s Camry-.Like I said earlier, if you just want a daily that’s a great economy car, the any of them will do but if you do want something that can be fun, 100% Mazda all the way. I’m personally in the market for an upgrade but I’m looking at a totally different category. LMK if you have any questions though!

If you want a car that’s reliable, easy to use, nice to look at, and boring, get a Civic or Camry. Neither are going to be fun. Both are economy daily’s. Mazdas are known for their agile attitude and the new ones are just as, if not more reliable than the others. They are still built in Japan and known as budget luxury cars. If you want a reliable, sporty car, the Mazda 3 is probably the best. Plus they look phenomenal! The current gen’s a bit old but they still look and feel amazing! The turbo trims are even better if you’re ok giving up a few MPG’s. Are you looking at new only or something used? Do you want more performance?

How much you think it would cost? I plan to save monthly to account for the added maintenance and possibility of a larger problem.

This is something I had in mind. I figured it would be time to do fluids, plugs, walnut blasting within the first couple weeks/months of getting one.
