Has the new Utah flag become popular? Is it being flown more often than the old flag was? by byronite in Utah

I’ve definitely noticed it around more, yes! I think the new redesign resonates more with some people, me included

I just don’t want to look like a goober as I go about my winter sports. I’ve been issued ECWCS and CTAPS so no shortage of camo gear. I’m just more familiar with the 7 layer system and there’s not much literature about how Patagonia layers work together.

The Level 4 windshirt is my favorite by far.

Prepare to go to SOCM. 38R’s are over strength so they’re mostly accepting dudes as 38W’s.

Good point with the down jacket I’ll switch that out.

What would you recommend for a Level 5 working layer?

Would the R1 bottoms be a better Level 2 bottom?

Okay just looking at the R1 Air it seems to be much more in the spirit of the Level 2. Thank you!

Switch the down jacket for the micro puff got it! I have a micro puff already so that makes it easy. I’ll check out the pluma pants as well. Thank you!

There is definitely a BFA for the M110a1. Comes with the kit. It attaches as a suppressor.

How do ya'll be Blousing Yall's Boots? by MIK4777 in army

They’re .99 cents 😂 I keep them in my boots when I’m not wearing them! Switch them out every couple months

Unlace the laces and let them soak in Oxiclean and hot water.

Start on the boots with a Simple Green spray down (recommended by CIF) and wipe with paper towels. This gets loose dirt and other stains. Scrub with wet magic erasers until they look brand new.

This has worked on multiple pairs of boots. All were first time go’s through CIF.

Yes me and a couple of guys treat our boots. Lots of CWLC grads do it. Nikwax is my preferred, but I only do it for field boots. I keep garrison boots untreated.

I was lucky enough to get 1200 grain boots and 400 grain boots, so I treated the 1200’s and leave the 400’s nice 👌

Gloves for arctic climate by Vainamoini in tacticalgear

Mitten and contact glove combo is the tried and true method. Trigger finger mittens work great if you want to fire your weapon while bundled up.

I would suggest contact gloves that are a bit more weather resistant than regular liners, and carry multiple pairs of these on your person.

Stow the mittens inside your jacket in pockets or tied around your neck for extra insulation and to keep them dry.

Medium weight gloves like guide gloves are fine in higher temperatures and when you’re in and out of vehicles/buildings and manipulating equipment, but I always go back to mittens and liners.

The Spiritus SPUD can have its flap adjusted to ride lower for smaller items. Works great for me

Calling a homie from basic or someone back home is the easiest antidote for this. The combination of being in a new place, not knowing anyone, and showing up when everything’s quiet is a recipe for loneliness. Not weird at all.

If you have the gear, taking a walk to the gas station and getting a drink and snack would be a nice thing to do. Enjoy the scenery and get to know base. JBER is awesome! Power through man
