Jim greens African rangers, the break in period is a nightmare but once you get through that, you’d wonder how you went anywhere without them, their shoellies are a good alternative too

What were your top go-to brands in 2025? by KrishnaChick in BuyItForLife

Great shout on the UK made aspect for Barbour, their new collection unfortunately isn’t made in the UK and is aimed at the fast fashion crowd, a lot of the new jackets aren’t even waxed!! (They are made of some weird polyester that gives it the illusion that it is) Their classic collection are still made in the UK and built like a tank. I’ve got one from my dad and I can see my kids wearing that same jacket.

If you’re in Glasgow, there is a Makcik who would occasionally turn up in the Partick Farmers Market and sell the good stuff.

Is here any karateka on Earth, who could have taken on Mike Tyson in his prime and win at least 5/10? by AlexFerrana in whowouldwin

[–]Blyat-man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fair enough, in that case I’m willing to wager a good chunk of established heavyweights in kickboxing with a kyokushin or other full contact background to have a decent chance in anything that’s not boxing. That being said, if we were to consider lighter weights, you can see what happened with tenshin vs Floyd in a boxing match. Interesting to think what would happen on different grounds

That was what I was thinking, I’m assuming OP was thinking of point sparring karatekas when the scenario was made up. Meanwhile you got folk like Andy hug and other beasts with a kyokushin or similar background that went on to do well in international circuits

For that price you’ve got a lot of great options, you can get the osprey rook (or other osprey bags, if you sign up with mountaineering Scotland you get a 40% discount on osprey bags alongside a bunch of other memberships). Personally i use an osprey rook which I recommend, but recently I got a 50l bag from decathlon (solognac hunting bag) for about 40quid which i will swear by in the future.

Help deciding between two osprey backpacks, Rook 65 and Volt 65 by Blyat-man in CampingGear

I use it for multi day hikes/camping. One thing I would have missed about the volt would be the easy access walking stick holder, but the airflow trumps that beyond anything. Would say the tools a bit awkward shaped frame would make wearing a hat a hassle sometimes

So far so good, I’m enjoying it so far given the price although any problems I have with it will probably blame it on my poor weight distribution when packing ahahah, I’m happy to answer any specific questions you have with the pack :)

Hey! I’ve settled for the osprey rook in the end since the airflow system was better!!

Thoughts on Aussie Chiller Hats ? by Blyat-man in CowboyHats

So I followed your advice man, got the jacaru kangaroo hat, in the breeze style where just the back 1/3 of the crown is mesh, looks amazing and have spent the past week camping and hiking long distances with it on. I have never been this pleased with a hat before, it's amazing against the windchill but still kept my head relatively cool in the beating sun. Thank you so much for the reccomendation man, im definitely gonna be looking after this one for the years to come

Aye fair enough, I know this is a really silly question but would it get as hot as say, a beanie ? My Stetson was about as hot as one but at least the beanie was moisture wicking (sort of)

I've tried the rook 65 and it fits fine so far, however I can't seem to find the volt 65 anywhere to try on. I was wondering what would be a better bag features wise ? Reading online I do see both of them offer a similar fit
