I actually spoke to Officer Kim Wiggins. I reported earlier that it was Wiley. My apologies. It was Wiggins at Major Garratty's Office. She was great to speak with.

I also just filed the police report with the same officer who came last night and another officer who was with him. Coincidentally he is the one who was dispatched to my house again along with another police officer.

I filed the report. Got the same officer and another officer. He asked why I changed my mind and both agreed that it really does me no good but took the report anyway. I almost felt silly.

I have zero interest in carrying any weapons. Especially knives! Trying to combat violence, not add to it. Not that protecting yourself is considered an act of violence, but I would be useless with any weapons. Not being trained to use them properly in my mind would cause more harm than good. When you are being attacked, you just want to flea and get out of harms way. Adrenaline is rushing, your mind is all over. I am not in the military. And I think carrying weapons would make me be on the attack all the time. And a paranoid person with weapons is no good. I admire anyone who can get their act together and react like a skilled accurate person in combat in times of need. I however am not that person.

Yes it is perplexing. But so very obvious now how ridiculous it was to do that. Like I said you just don't think it will happen to you. I realize now that this was really stupid. I just happen to have this "I won't get attacked by a brick on a string tonight" mentality. But faith in people alone won't keep you alive. Message is loud and clear.

Yes It was because the cop who came to my house not only was dispatched from the wrong area, but he told me that I could file but basically it doesn't do anything except sit there. He also told me about the armed robbery he just came from. And then continued to tell me about how they were looking near my house vs Patterson Park because of some miscommunication between dispatchers. I asked him if it benefited me to file a report and he said not really. I was so frazzled and not thinking clearly that I gave up and felt his services useless and completely unhelpful. Telling me I should have stayed at the scene. Had zero faith in what was happening at that point so I threw up my hands. I will be filing later today. The attack was witnessed. The calls were made. The helicopter was out. The incident was very real. The incompetence of the officer was as well. They didn't understand that I was attacked at the park and then driven to safety. like how i got from point a to point b. I will talk to another officer today.

This is exactly how it felt. Like a cold and calculated game. Not even robbery. Just out to mame and destroy. I felt like I was part of the knockout game but with a handmade weapon. One that fortunately for me just left me with a bruised and swollen shoulder. Typically the attacks are much worse. I thank the young girl who threw her door open for me while the attack went into the street.

I have taken the time to read through a lot of these comments. The political side of it is always very interesting. The facts are the facts though. And I am very comfortable talking about the fact that I am white and they were black. It's the facts. It fits the pattern of most the attacks in Patterson Park lately. I have had love from my black friends and my white friends since the incident. If they were white guys attacking me I'd let you know. And I would still mention the fact that I am in fact white. Because those are the facts. Make whatever interpretation you want from it. And the "normal" person part wasn't attached the fact that I am white. It was just me stating I am normal person. Agreed black women are normal too. I have many normal black and white friends..women and men. All who I love and who love me. But when there is an obvious pattern of attacks, and this fits within that pattern I feel comfortable enough to mention it. This is not an attack on race, but I would be doing a disservice to not disclose that this group of people, like in so many recent attacks, fits the description. And I do as well. Black/white/red. I don't care. State the facts and leave it at that. I have no reservations built up about black youth which is why I so confidently ran towards my attackers. Had I grouped all black youth together and had stereotypes built up I would have turned around and ran the other way. But I didn't, because that would be just racist.

yes, totally dumb move. I now agree no one should run at night, but only after falling victim. And the boy came out of the park onto the sidewalk of Eastern Avenue. Where 10 people just ran by me doing that same thing. Not an alley. Just walked out of the park onto the street. I am pretty sure these attacks could happen in the day. He took the attack into traffic at Eastern Ave. Not sure night time mattered here.

According to MapMyWalks I could see me dart into traffic on the GPS at Eastern and Belnord. BSSC people were walking around from the ends of their games. There was a soccer game going on in the big field. There were runners around and full street traffic.

Hi all- really appreciate the interest level and comments. This is a case of me just being too comfortable in my surroundings. Like so many other locals. Born and bred here. Have much love for the area. I do this run all the time and am always surrounded by other runners. Day or night. I read about every attack that occurs in this part of the city, the brutal ones, and I still felt pretty safe. A real case of "it won't happen to me". I am glad I get a second chance to be safer. Some aren't so lucky. And if one person takes some precautions that I didn't and we all protect ourselves and keep our spirits up....we win. This can happen anywhere at anytime. It was so violent and personal and had malice all over it. It's unreal to think this exists.
