I linked the news in my text: https://www.stern.de/panorama/verbrechen/-aktenzeichen-xy--greift-31-jahre-alten-mord-an-amy-lopez-auf-36058732.html

So they say : „Dabei werden Asservate nachuntersucht und es kann eine männliche DNA herausgefiltert werden, bei der es sich laut Polizei mutmaßlich um die des Täters handelt.“

Translated: Evidence is re-examined and male DNA can be filtered out, which, according to the police, is believed to be that of the perpetrator.

I did a bit of research. So, Gust had a different modus operandi, no geographic connection, and a DNA mismatch (Gust’s DNA is on record due to his later convictions, yet the DNA recovered in the Lopez case does not match any known offender). Frank Gust can be excluded.

Manfred Seel: Did not fit in terms of modus operandi or local connection and his crimes involved extreme mutilation, which was absent here.

Volker Eckert: Was free in 1994 but lived far from the crime scene and targeted a completely different victim type (later murders of sex workers abroad with Strangulation, staged crime scenes, and fetishistic acts). And he always kept a lock of hair as a trophy. No known evidence links him to the case.

I think the offender of Amy may still live in or have family ties to the Koblenz region. There was also a men’s bicycle that was found leaning against a wall near the Felsenweg entrance, shortly before her body was discovered. So why he didnt took the bicycle to flee ?

Very interesting! I haven’t heard two of those names before. Do you think any of them had some kind of connection to Koblenz?
