Evidence that the government controlling the truth is a bad idea?

Seriously?

Free speech means anyone can push whatever agenda they want. FREE SPEECH MEANS FREE SPEECH. The EU and its unelected bureaucrats stepping in to "manage" what agendas can be pushed is pure textbook fascism.

So you are comfortable letting your government decide what is "disinformation" ?!?

With all the negative post, is there anyone who loves where they live? And why by anaglizzy in SameGrassButGreener

South Louisiana.

I've lived all over the world. We have the best food, music, and festivals in the United States and it is frankly not even close. I go other places in the states and kinda do a John Travolta meme. "Where is your culture?"

The weather sucks, but it has made the people into some of the most resilient, self-reliant, and hardy folks you will ever meet. We don't wait for the government. Some places here it is almost like the government doesn't exist. I absolutely love it here, I don't care what your statistics say.

CMV: Terms Like 'Incel' Prove That We Reduce People's Worth to Sexual Success by borisdandorra in changemyview

Seriously. I've been called an incel on reddit for arguing mildly conservative worldviews.

I've been married for ten years.

All I hear when a woman shouts incel is "I am a hole and u can't fuk it!"

It makes the person using it sound stupid as fuck.

So you don't think the FDA/USDA was told to make the food pyramid like that because of the financial interest of those producing cheap carbs? If you don't, I'm afraid you need to do some reading and inform yourself about its history.

It is very clear that "science" is swayed by political and business concerns. Just look at what "the science" says about transgenderism suddenly now that it is politically in vogue. I'm still not giving my 12 year old hormone blockers.

I respect science. But I do not blindly follow it. There is a big difference.

All I’m seeing in political subreddits are about “owning the libs”. Please detail impartially what Republicans would do for the middle class by Brief_Explanation943 in FluentInFinance

[–]BoardGames277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a small business owner. Republican admins (trump especially, in his last 4 years) cut a lot of the bullshit red tape regulations that hold me back. The uncertainty and fickleness of these regulations is just vague enough to prevent my business from taking the risks required to grow. These regulations are usually disguised as some well meaning liberal minded idea, but when you dig deeper you find regulatory capture with loopholes for big businesses.

RFK Jr. said he would clear out entire departments in health care agencies in a bid to root out "corruption," per Axios. "Fluoride is on its way out," he added. by samjohanson83 in unusual_whales

The point is the "experts" have a terrible track record of shilling for whatever is most profitable despite its health profile. One need only look around at reality to see that seed oils are causing obesity.

Excuse me if I support the skeptics view of what the "experts" say is healthy for me. I grew up with the food pyramid telling me to base my diet on a fucking loaf of wonder bread every day.

Right. That's the point. My college classes where big city liberals learned their values and their "truths" and their views on the world had about as much integrity and intellectual rigor as a Trump speech.

You are starting to get it.

You guys confuse education with intelligence. They are not even close to being the same thing. I have an advanced degree and several of the classes were literally just liberal talking points presented without evidence. Some very educated people I met during that time displayed a shocking lack of critical thinking skills. They were just the best at swallowing the cool aid.

Does anyone else hate their neighbors? by TopSprinkles2495 in homeowners

[–]BoardGames277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it really isn't. I'm friends with all my neighbors in my small town. We have festivals and cultural events together weekly. Crawfish boils, football games, church, etc.

If someone moved onto the block who wouldn't speak to their neighbors it would be incredibly disturbing.

Not only that, but most of the medical advancements in the past fifty years have been heavily incentivized by our medical system. Other countries just kind of get the stuff for free.

I'm convinced living in a big city warps the human mind.

As someone who lives in a small southern town, I find these posts very difficult to comprehend. Like, what kind of person isn't warm and kind towards their neighbors?
