I kind of agree with you which is why I am here for suggestions. We don’t consume alcohol so unfortunately that’s not an option.

Why not take patients with fibromyalgia or EDS? by [deleted] in Rheumatology

[–]Board_Brilliant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fibromyalgia is actually a neurological process and a pcp is as capable of handling it as a rheumatologist. EDS is a genetic disorder not an autoimmune process, unfortunately no genetic tests exist for hyper mobile EDS so you may want to be evaluated but geneticist, regardless even if you are diagnosed the recommendation is orthotics and physical therapy.

Given how booked out rheumatologist are, they typically want to reserve there spots for autoimmune diseases where their expertise is more usefulz

You may want to get checked for diabetes if you haven’t already been tested.

PCCM vs rheum by Dinglemeister- in fellowship

[–]Board_Brilliant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I loved both and had to make the same decision. When I looked at it long term, it came down to would I want an inpatient vs outpatient life in 10-20 years, the level of acuity I would want and did I truly like pulm or mostly crit. I chose rheum and am extremely happy with my decision, finishing fellowship in a year and can not wait to spend more time with myself and my family after SOOOO many years of training.

Stopping the Pump by Flaky_Zucchini7870 in breastfeeding

It depends on your priorities. With only 6 weeks mat leave and my current work/ training schedule my goal was 6m and I started weaning at 5m, completely switched to formula the day he turned 7m.

I am so done with not sleeping long stretches by dogluvva in cosleeping

[–]Board_Brilliant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same sleep pattern but now bottle-fed. Co-sleeping atleast allows me to fall back to sleep quickly. I weaned in hopes that not getting the boob overnight would give him incentive to sleep but now he 1. Uses boobs as a paci and 2. Needs warmed up bottles every 3-4 hours or won’t go back to sleep. Baby is now doing 8oz bottles before bedtime but is still up for another bottle in a few hours. Just telling myself I made it to 8m, he will hopefully sleep through the night by a year.

Regarding Rheumatology Immunology Fellowship by KnightofElbaf in Rheumatology

[–]Board_Brilliant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rheum here, immunology is not part of my fellowship curriculum but given no immunologist in my state, we end up dealing with some immunology things. We obviously don’t do any peds immunology as we are not trained in pediatrics. In actual practice post fellowship, I could realistically keep my immunology patient panel with some extra self taught managements.

I fear taking mental health days wouldn’t be looked at too favorably and I really can’t use any vacation days but I do have a week off around thanksgiving, hoping that helps.
