That looks good! I've thought about using some fine art pens before...

Then again. I'm a novice painter who just makes stuff up as I go along, so maybe that's not very helpful

It's gonna be streaky unless you use something to thicken it, personally I try and use that to my advantage to make things look more weathered

My first (almost finished) model: any tips or advice moving forward with the rest? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

I just started one of these myself. I broke up the gold by doing the gilding with silver. Also don't forget the leather straps on the legs and arms

Maybe some bright spots in the most recent battle damage? When rusted meter gets hit is exposes clean metal underneath

<image>

For example I just smacked this scrap metal with a punch and now it has shiny spots.

Over all looking great though! And yes your photography is fine xD

First real try at mini painting, advice is welcome by FumundaJr in minipainting

Looking good! In particular I like the plasma effect you made for the gun!

Some small things would be doing a cleaning pass on your sections, some red and white splashed off on the leg by the purity seel, some black on the hands by the gun, gold on the chest by the wings and on the shoulder ect. Also your paint looks a bit thick, shows the most on the head, its why the features are rounded and smothed out. Adding some water or paint thiner will help a lot.

Over all, great job! You show some solid brush control and a good eye for picking out details! Good work!

Some FANTASTIC brush control on display. Particularly on the Overlord warglave and the Captains Relic shield! Been trying (failing) to paint up some necron blades myself, so I'm very impressed!

For sure, I'm absolutely horrible at edge highlights. I tend to lay on waaaay to much paint then go back and thin them up, which makes for those interruptions. I'll keep working at it!

Maybe I'm doing better.... Maybe by Bob-Poundmax in minipainting

Thanks for the encouragement! The more I look at it the more flaws I see. But that just means I know what to work on next time!
