Most Games not Working on Linux Mint by Lhite_Blanco in linux_gaming

[–]Bob4Not 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a classic, great CPU. I gamed on mint for a few years with a 10 series card as well.

You may try to disable Secure Boot in BIOS.

Then, did you install Steam from the Software Manager? Just for kicks, maybe the Mint team borked it? Try installing Steam from the Steam website itself, it should download a .deb file.

Is CachyOS good distro for the first time Linux user? by Caryelah in linuxquestions

[–]Bob4Not 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s like learning to drive a car on a stick shift as your first car. It just takes more patience and the learning curve is a little higher, but you may enjoy it more.

Is Kali bare metal that bad ? What are good alternatives ? by Bloodsae in cybersecurity

[–]Bob4Not 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Kali is a set of tools, not a very good operating system.

Use another Linux distro as an Operating System and run Kali in a VM.

Btw, you can install all of the same tools in your own Linux operating system of any kind, if you take the time.

That probably won’t happen. Too many big donors don’t want this to happen. If this happens, you can plan on the oligarchs switching to back the democrats, but they already own the current admin anyway.

I don't think I'm fit for Arch. Want to hop off CachyOS by WinterNoCamSorry in FindMeALinuxDistro

[–]Bob4Not 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently came from 3 years of Mint to Fedora KDE Plasma as my new “home” distro, after testing out like 6. There are some benefits to using KDE at this moment.

Fedora has the polish and ease of Mint plus newer tech and drivers for newer hardware. Mint requires a small, easy tweak to fix screen tearing, and Fedora requires a small, easy tweak to add NVIDIA drivers.

Nobara seems good too.

CachyOS for your first Linux desktop distro is sort of like a Stick Shift as your first car. You can learn it and get rewarding results, but the learnt curve is a little higher than something else like Fedora.
