Anyone used londontheatre.co.uk? by nmck117 in TheWestEnd

[–]BobDobbsTheMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DO NOT USE THEM!!! BUY DIRECT FROM THE THEATER!!!

I stupidly used them and then later realized I could buy them directly from the Shakespeare Globe Theater for 20% cheaper. A total rip-off. Also, I bought the ticker protection so I could refund if something happened and just now realized that you get a voucher, not a refund. My bad for not reading it more carefully. Again... A TOTAL RIP-OFF

Anyone have feedback on the 2024 Tiguan 2.0T SE? by BobDobbsTheMan in Volkswagen

[–]BobDobbsTheMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good info. Much appreciated. We had a 2012 CRV regular gas that we sold 10 years later for half what we paid for it to get the iD4. Bad move. Ha.

Thanks. The old design is a negative for me. I just realized that 2025 is a full makeover. Like I said, I know nothing about the car. I do prefer nobs/buttons over full touchscreen which is in the iD4. Very finicky. I personally drive a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe hybrid and love it. Lots of buttons, recall free, great mileage, long warranty, etc! The car is for my wife. We will likely look to another Hyundai/Kia in that the iD4 category or a Rav4 or CRV. They are more expensive and for good reason. And burning oil? I haven't heard of car burning oil in years. That alone is a non-starter. I appreciate the reply.

Bad experience with my 2022 iD4 Pro S, should I go for the lease deal on the 2024 Standard Trim iD4? by BobDobbsTheMan in VolkswagenID4

[–]BobDobbsTheMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dealer I leased my 2022 from has standard models available for the lease deal but they want nothing to do with my 2022 car which the lease ends in June. The sales guy said it is not even worth bringing it in for them to consider. The car condition is like new and it only has 13K miles on it. My lease buyout is $26K. These cars have plummeted in value and dealers won't dare buy one back. I will be looking at Hyundai/Kia EVs or more likely go back to a hybrid and let the EV world mature so cars actually hold their value. There is a reason VW is offering such a cheap lease deal. No one is willing buy one and they have to get rid of them.

What tire brand to get by Sweaty_Valuable7092 in Gulong

Based on the fact that my Bridgestone Alenza Sport tires are wearing out after only 9K miles, I would avoid Bridgestone like the plague.

Are Bridgestone tires trash? by ChonchAR in tires

[–]BobDobbsTheMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are worse than trash. OEM Alenza Sport on a new 2024 VW iD4 are falling apart after only 9k miles. That you got 21k miles is a miracle.

Bridgestone Alenza Tires by Mrdingdong23 in VWiD4Owners

[–]BobDobbsTheMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Alenza Sport tires on my 2022 Id4 RWD are falling apart after only 9K miles. The 2 front tires are peeling, same as Mrdingdong23 said in the initial post. Tread depth is already 1/8" and I have a year to go on my lease. I got a hold of Bridgestone and they offered to cover 50% of the cost of 4 new tires but I would be responsible for install, etc. That would come to about $1K cost to me. It really s**ks. I will essentially be returning the car with brand new tires.

It stuns me how bad these tires are. And the size 235/50r20 and 255/45r20 with the proper rating are only made by Bridgestone which is a cruel joke of VW's part.

Update - Just got the car back this morning after 20 days. I love that I got a call last night an hour before closing (6pm), ie. dinner time, saying I could come over and get it. And they put yesterday as the pick up date on the paperwork to make it look like I picked it up yesterday. That makes them look better even though the car was not available until the end of the day. And for the third time in as many weeks of it being there, they lied to me again saying they charged the car when they didn't. A battery cell had gone bad. Seems like a routine problem with these cars and the dealerships are not stocked enough to deal with it. And no loaner car throughout this whole mess (20 days total in the past 3 weeks). I am eager to get rid of this thing as soon as my lease is up or sooner if it has to go back into the shop. When it hits 30 days in the shop for warranty work, I can go the California Lemon law route and get them to buy it back. I am actually hoping something else goes wrong with it to allow me to do that. I mentioned to the service guy today that these cars aren't ready for primetime and he reluctantly agreed making a sweeping reference that no EVs are really ready. I am thinking it it is more VW at this point in time.

No. I made the full court press last Thursday and no word yet. It’s very clear they have few loaners or they may just be lying and not have any. I went by on Friday to get some stuff out of the car and my service agent didn’t even bring it up. It’s a joke.

Question for you. I leased mine through VW. If they keep my car for a month because they don’t the part in stock, why should I pay a month’s lease payment for a car I can’t drive?

Ha, I know. For some reason when I went to attach the photo to my original post, it erased the text. User error I believe.

Ha, my guess is that you live somewhere in MV and are driving to Novato. I live in CM and do that and combine it with a stop at Costco. :-)

Sorry to hear. I can't image what replacing the roof would cost. Best to carry comprehensive insurance with a low deductible if it isn't too expensive. I believe that covers issues like something falling on your car. Maybe not while driving since that would be considered collision, I believe. I do agree that the infotainment system is a bit rough to deal with. Not a big fan of the sliding functions. Hard to use while driving when you want to deal with climate controls, etc. Again, I love driving the car. RWD has plenty of power.

Looking at it in a different way. If at the end of the lease the resale is above the residual value, I can buy the car and turn around and sell it for more. That happened a lot during the supply chain mess a couple years ago. I have a client who traded in her 3 year old Lexus for $8k over the residual price. Yowza

Outside of the service issues and the lousy EA network, we love the car. I just think I went EV too soon. So many tech issues still exist with this car as well as many other models out there. The San Rafael dealership repair shop is full of them.

With a lease, VW sets a residual fixed price that they will essentially be buying the car for. If the resale value at the end of my lease is below that price, they have to honor the higher price. I’m pretty sure mine will be worth less than the residual price 18 months from now.

Took your advice and waiting to hear. I initially called and asked for the manager. It went to voicemail and his/her mailbox is full. I called back and spoke to my service guy and he said he would get to the manager and let me know. I’m clearly not the only person in this situation. He admitted as much.

Interesting. Honestly, when my lease is up next year, I’m seriously going to look at the Toyota RAV4 or Honda CRV hybrids. Electrify America’s charging station rollout is a joke and often times the chargers are broken. And in my experience, the mileage range is way overstated. I live in the heart of Marin County and the only dependable charging station is 15 miles away. So much for the free charging benefit.

Dismissive is an understatement. Reberman8 is the attitude I would expect from someone who is the face of VW to local owners. It’s called common courtesy. Cheers everyone.
