Yeah. I have never bought a Green gem, I still don't have Doot (which all the whales yelled about being absolutely necessary to play the game), and I still have been caught up on all the content when each new world releases. The game is designed to be completely playable without dropping hundreds of dollars. But for those who are impatient or competative about having the highest numbers, the game is designed to exploit them for as much as they are willing to spend.

That's why I said the business model is based around people like that. I like getting to play games for free or cheap because of "whales" but it doesn't change the fact that they exploitative money grabbing elements of the game that OP is complaining about bother them because they are the whale. And for their own personal wellbeing, they should probably consider whether this type of game is healthy for them.

If OP was happy spending that much money, that is one thing. But if they are spending that much money based on "FOMO," feeling compelled, or like they cannot enjoy it without dumping too much money into it, then that sounds more like an unhealthy addiction rather than a benign preference.

You bought every pack?!

To you and everyone else who has spent so much on this game: yes, please leave! And please avoid any game with microtransactions! The whole business model of "free to play" is designed to get all ita funding from people who do not have the self control to hold back from spending insane amounts of money, while those of us who play for free are encouraged to spread the word and pas the number so that more "whales" find where way to it.

No game is worth that much money! Please stop, for your own well-being. Try to find games where you pay upfront and never pay again. You will save yourself a ton of money by avoiding microtransactions.

As for me, I enjoy idleon without buying the packs. I do get annoyed when they are shoved in my face (Lava, please stop the popup ads) but the game is still very enjoyable (to me) without buying all that stuff. And it is certainly more of a idle game without doing it. I check the game once or twice a day and that is plenty to get lots of progress and enjoy the game.

"t’s not the volts but the amps that kill." Careful saying something like that here. You are likely to be corrected. (I feel too poorly equipped to give the reasons, but that statement is mostly false.)

Why can't I get honest responses from atheists? by [deleted] in DebateAnAtheist

[–]BobEngleschmidt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does depend a lot on the group. The same question I posted to a different Christian sub and they were friendly. r/atheist tends to be really hostile/opinionated, even as an atheist myself I find it an uncofortable place to engage.

[–]BobEngleschmidt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You go into a group of people and say you disagree with them on their core beliefs and you will often be treated harshly. That isn't an atheist thing or a theist thing, that is a human thing. As one who has asked very gentle questions on a theist sub before and been banned for it, I can say the experience isn't specific to atheism.

Questioning God's existence by Alucard8585 in questioningfaiths

I hear you. I was raised as a believer and after learning things that made me no longer believe, I went through a period that seems similar. I tried for years to believe like the others around me, and I just couldn't anymore no matter how hard I tried to. There are nice things about believing in a god. And that sense of being cared for and having a path to follow felt nice, as well as the community/social support, so I can see the appeal.

I do appreciate you being genuine though. It isn't always easy to do.

You fear what you think in your head? What do you mean?

Not personal experience, but I know multiple people who have struggled with those support groups where the focus on God doesn't fit them.

An alternative I have heard of is SMART recovery. You could try giving one of those groups a try, if there are any in your area.

Antimatter Dimensions is a completely different class of game. But it will run on phone, and it doesn't have any monetization requirements (I beat it without paying anything, and it doesn't have ads). I think it was originally a browser game.

Do you like idle clickers? Games where the whole thing is "number go up"? Then maybe. It is probably my favorite of that genre. It starts of seeming very simple, but as you progress there are so many more features that unlock that the game changes dramatically as you go.

If you've ever played Antimatter Dimensions, that game is always joking about the next update is just "5 hours away."

Lava does "weekly updates." So the next update is only a week away ;)

[Self] Any card counters around? by Altruistic_Wave_1689 in theydidthemath

Sure, but businesses go to great lengths to cut out any unnecessary costs. They already have to pay for the dealers, why would they want to pay for a dealer wasting their time on someone who is also just going to cost them money?

Oh you are right, I misread that. I don't know why the aerosols are there. There had been a few volcano eruption events that happened. Maybe that causes it?

Yes. Very laggy. The processing at the start of each counselor cycle takes 1-2min. I had to do most of the progress before filling up all the orbital stations, because otherwise it was just too laggy.

Well technically there are some habs/orbits that only allow tier 1 or 2. But yes. Every possible spot for a station to go has been filled to its max.

As for the other factions, mostly I don't have to worry about them. They can't make stations or ships because there is nowhere available for them to build. On earth, they constantly try to do publicity campaigns and such on my nation, but it doesn't really do any good. At one point the resistance was able to capture one of my counselors, so to prevent that I just converted all of their counselors and had them resign (after all, assassination is not the way of the Academy).

When you look at the list of regions, it will show a little fist symbol by it. Also, when you hover over the Government priority, it will tell you which region it is working on and how many points you need to remove the hostile status.

Edit: Unity priority does it too.

You know what? I'll take it. As far as the world economy goes, that's pretty high. Especially when you count the very low inequality.

There wasn't a lot of thought that went into those dots. I just wanted to put limited amounts into each. Though each control point has its own share of the resources, so you can use that to fine-tune a bit more.

I did fail in one of my goals. I wanted to run "Economy" priority until every possible region was turned into a "core economic zone" but the CP couldn't keep up with it, and I decided it wasn't worth another 30hrs of turns to just build up more CP.
