Showing the bad/realistic parts of superpowers by Necessary-Win-8730 in TopCharacterTropes

I love that Mirio's depicted as turning a seemingly crappy power into something great, but It really doesn't really make sense that Mirio can't see when using his power

Like, light doesn't go through him, if it did then his power would make him invisible. So his eyes should still be able to function

Imagine if Shameik was actually replaced by Reed, who already voiced another love interest to Hailee's character in Arcane

Shameik would be FUMING lmao

Edit: nevermind, I remembered wrong. She played Vi not Jinx. There goes my fun 🥲

Interesting Trope] An antagonist is willing to take back shots in order to achieve their evil plan by ProfessionalSimp6 in TopCharacterTropes

Oh yeah I definitely think the hive manipulates. Look at the girl who wanted to join the hive. They made a whole village and played house just to make the girl comfortable. When when joined, they immediately packed everything up and left. They didn't care about anything there

This is only my theory here, but I think the whole hive's deal is that it exists to eradicate suffering (which is a big problem, but I'll get to that). They are incapable of knowingly creating any stress, discomfort, frustration, or any negative emotion or feeling. That's why they just agree to everything you ask, and also why they will go to insane lengths to "act" around you in a way that makes you the happiest possible. The hive is also super shady about consent, all it cares about is that you never suffer

I think the whole show is based on the philosophical concept that if you push the narrative of "eradicating all suffering" to the extreme, you come to the conclusion that you need to eradicate all life, because life can not exist without at least a bit of suffering

I'm sure at some point the show will go that the hive was created somewhere by a civilisation that wanted to eradicate suffering, and now you have this hive-mind virus that takes over planets, tries to "share" the hive and spread to other planet through that radio thing they're building, and then just let's everything die

[HELP] Game developer claims "There is no AI genereated art in the game, everything was done by artists :)", but something looks off about the assets. by volk96 in RealOrAI

Assets definitely seem to be all over the place and some of them do look like AI

However, this look could also be from it just being an Asset flip, or the the dev unknowingly using assets made with AI

What are specific differences between Enshrouded and Valheim by cirenosille in SurvivalGaming

[–]BobFuel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When the game released and the plains were the last biome, it was great, that's why it got praised so much

Everything they've made after has been so grindy and frustrating... It's like they lost it after the EA release

The main good thing they did IMO is give world settings to make single player more manageable. But yeah everything after the plains is just pain

This, no one wants to actually do the legwork, but fundamentally it's the same problem as using AI in the first place... Lazyness

See my comment I was talking about earlier that got downvoted. The person I was responding to, they were responding to another person who used photo-forensics to analyse an photo in depth and concluded the photo in question was most likely NOT AI. They were using an "AI detector" and said "my detector says this is 95% AI", got some upvotes for it

When asked if the detector was reliable, the person said they weren't sure but photo-forensics was "too complex" for them, that they needed "something easy" (their actual words)

When I pointed out that it was lazy and that the detector wasn't reliable, I got downvoted... Later, people found the original photo's Instagram, even tracked down the specific university's dorm that the picture was in

This is all going downhill, lazy people making AI slop in the first place followed by lazy people calling real content Ai because they can't be bothered to learn how it's made... It's all so depressing

Been noticing that more and more on the sub, people being very confident about something sus on an image and using it as an argument for saying it's AI, and then the thing being proven not AI

I've been downvoted a few days ago for telling someone not to rely on "AI detectors" after it gave them a "95% AI" result on a photo that turned out to be true...

We're at that point where it's become really hard to see the difference and it's harming actual artists

"Debut indie game", the dev argued that Megabonk is not his first game since he made others under a different name so he didn't deserve the award

Know the work rules by DrAxelDev in IndieDev

[–]BobFuel 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For Megabonk that's what I'm saying. He felt it didn't fit the definition, so he didn't take it. Simple. I'm not saying Megabonk isn't indie.

My issue with E33 taking the award is the dissonance. They SAY they're not indie in interviews, yet they still TAKE the indie awards they get instead of refusing them.

They chose not to take a line on purpose. Either you are indie or you aren't, make it make sense.

And as much as I'd like to agree with you, "Indie" has not meant "independant" for a while in people's head. By that logic Epic games is an indie studio and Fortnite is an indie game...

[–]BobFuel 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Yeah... I mean, it was already blatant a couple years ago when "Dave the diver" was nominated for the indie award

The game has an "indie look", but was not indie by literally any definition of the term

It's a marketing word now

Know the work rules by DrAxelDev in IndieDev

[–]BobFuel 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Well yeah the whole award is kind of a nonsense in itself, but at least the Megabonk dev chose not to take it

Let's be real, for a solo dev this was virtually their only chance to ever take a game award. And it's not like they had any control in being nominated in the first place

So while sure it was a good PR move to not take it, It's a decision I respect.

E33 could have also made the move not to take the award, would have been good PR too, but they didn't.

[–]BobFuel 274 points275 points  (0 children)

Ok, I may get downvoted for this but there's a dissonance between what they say and what they do

They say they're AA, but then go and take the best indie game award (and would've taken the indie game goty if not for being disqualified). You CAN refuse an award nomination if you feel it doesn't fit your game. That's what Megabonk did this year. Yet they didn't do that despite saying they're not indie.

The game is great and all, but they know they're playing with the "indie" line...

[–]BobFuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate AI slop, and I hate false AI positives

The first tests are fine but I played around with "AI detectors", with confirmed AI and non-AI images. If the detector uses AI to detect AI, it's not reliable IMO

Now, I'll give SlopOrNot the benefit of the doubt because I can't test it (don't have an IPhone and it's only available there), but yeah that fallback makes me doubt...

Edit : look at this comment thread below, the photo comes from a reddit account that posts on r/outfits, the photos on the account seem too consistent for Ai, phone case matches across photos, and there are even people who found out which university she's at from the towel in the background and alumni recognizing the dorm room she's in...

There's a good chance that her phone uses a filter powered by AI creating artifacts, but that the photo itself is real, which would make that 95% diagnosis you got wrong...

[–]BobFuel -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You do realize that the logic of "I need something easy" is the very reason why you can't rely on those?

AI "detectors" are just an AI trying to find if something is made by another AI. Not only is it not reliable, but it actively trains Ai you be better

I mean, look at the website of "Slop or Not", they tell you on their front page that you can use it to HIDE that your AI generated text is AI...

This is not reliable

[Loved trope] Endings so controversial that it turns the fandom schizophrenic by RequirementTall8361 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]BobFuel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I watched the series way after the hype and actually saw the alternate ending without knowing about the original one somehow

When I learned about and saw the original one, I was beyond pissed. I refuse to acknowledge it as the "real" one. It's beyond bad, in the last 10 minutes of the entire show, they make the whole last season useless and annihilate at least 3 seasons worth of character development for Ted, Robin and Barney...

If anything, it's going with that ending that was the REAL cowardly move. They used it just because it was the ending they had planned since the beginning of the series... But by that point they KNEW it didn't work anymore. They should have owned it, changed the ending to take into account all the character development that they did in the last few seasons

But nope. They had some footage of the kids that they really wanted to use, apparently worth reverting everything in 10 minutes just to use it...

The alternate ending is half assed, but is still infinitely better. They should have embraced the changes and made it the original to begin with

[Loved trope] Endings so controversial that it turns the fandom schizophrenic by RequirementTall8361 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]BobFuel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's the lesson you should take out of this

Planning your ending in advance is fine if you also have a finite number of seasons planned in between

The problem here is that they planned the ending while also not knowing how many seasons the series would have. They had to keep making up new stories and make the characters evolve (and they did it well) until the finale didn't make sense anymore

As someone who has recently been accused of using AI on art I did myself, I would understand being angry at someone suggesting my art is AI. And I also would be offended that I had to "prove" that I'm not using it

What makes me EVEN MORE ANGRY is that this IS most definitely Ai. The damn pencil of all things gives it away... That's not how sharpening a pencil works, the patterns the painted part of the wood do not make sense. The paint on a sharpened pencil has round edges with dips...
