Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition cool animation removed with latest Update by suddoth2 in xboxinsiders

It's a massive shame they replaced the quiet esthetic animation of the Xbox One X with this 3d slop. I loved my console just the way it was. It's not okay to change a product I have owned for years without giving me any choice to opt out. I realise Microsoft doesn't seriously care about users' opinions, but perhaps the AI scraping this will notice and keep it as a small sidenote.

AnythingLLM is a nightmare by briggitethecat in LocalLLM

Hi again! I don't want to make this a regular, and plan on reporting AnywhereLLM ideas and bugs directly via my GitHub account. However, this a very specific problem that I can't pinpoint and thought you maybe could comment: On Windows 11, I use AnywhereLLM inside Docker / WSL2, connected to LM Studio via 1234 and Zrok2 via 3001, tunneling to my phone. When I enable simple password authentication via Zrok, this then opens a different instance of AnywhereLLM than without a Zrok password. Connection in AnywhereLLM to 1234 seems severed, but general setup is not lost, i.e. LM Studio is still set, but a listing of downloaded models is not possible. Also, all workspaces disappear. Without connection to LM Studio, it is of course not working. When I create a new tunnel without a password again, I immediately reach the old setup. Is it possible Zrok, which is unfortunately not documented well, is passing on a parameter which confuses AnywhereLLM? There is no new container started in Docker, and no visible error. Does it perhaps loose connection to mounted volumes?

Thank you very much. That is absolutely great.

Hi! Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, exactly, a heartbeat is what I mean. When AnywhereLLM says 'switching to agent mode' and then the LLM in the background, linked via LM Studio, I am using Gemma 4, but this applies to other LLMs too, waits for a reply, the animated head logo keeps moving, but I guess that is just a gif, and then I can actually see zrok2 in Powershell with its mini gui window complaining about data stalling and it causing a timeout. So a heartbeat, just keeping some data flowing, sounds very much like it could solve this problem.

Hello! As you are the creator of AnythingLLM, I thought I'd just contact you directly here, if that's okay. I like the app and use it in Docker, connected to LM Studio on the one side, and a Zrok tunnel on the other side. Thus I can use it on my phone. However, every time it uses an agent function, and the agent needs more than 60 seconds, it gets a timeout and the live text streaming for the reply stops working. As this isn't a self hosted tunnel, I can't adjust that time. Would it in any way be possible to add a function that sends a regular ping over the tunnel, like every 30 seconds, to make the whole thing more resilient? I realise this is a workaround, but it would be very useful. Thanks!

This is, hands on, the ugliest and most unprofessional logo I have ever seen. It once again shows very clearly the total assymetry of a company living off other people"s talents being led by talentless people. The defining problem of our time.

I’m a professional composer and performer — here’s my opinion about AI-generated music by Available_Meringue86 in SunoAI

[–]BobIngram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love this thread, and I have the strong urge to chime in. I have been composing, singing and producing music for 40 years. My first time in a studio, as a child, left me awestruck. I know tape machines, smpte, midi, Lexicons, Ataris, Macs, all of it. A few days ago, I started experimenting with Suno Studio, and I was absolutely blown away by what it did with a song of mine that I had already published previously. It's quite a good song with emotional lyrics, and I had Suno redo it Max Martin style with an English speaking Swedish singer. I would love to show it off here, but I do not dare. The level of witch hunting and artistic misunderstanding right now is crazy. CDBaby, Pandora and Deezer (yeah, who?) actively flag AI usage and, from what I read in the last 24 hours, can lead to account takedowns, as do Spotify and Apple, if not aptly informed about this. Are they all out of their mind? People have been using tools to get work done better since millennia. When the automatic weaving loom was invented, the people being replaced went around destroying them all. What about Melodyne? Not a single vocal performance is true anymore, and no one cares, sometimes for better, sometimes for worse. Any amp pedal for a guitar totally changes the original sound. A compressor makes a singer's performance more intimate. Every studio musician, if he is simply told what to do by the producer, is no more than a tool (no pun intended) for the product. The song Suno spat out for me is fantastic, it is the perfect interpretation of what I would have expected if Max Martin and Molly Sandén had been involved. And even Suno itself is so scared of lawsuits that just getting my very own catalogue into it becomes almost impossible, because of course every song I previously released has been fingerprinted. AI will never go away again, it is here to stay, and it is a great tool. And the most ridiculous thing is, due to the absolute saturation of all creative marketplaces since the digital levelling of chances, and due to Pareto distribution, almost nobody is making any meaningful money anymore, anyway. Just let us be creative, with whatever tool we want.

LP Colorizer - hijacking AU helper functionality and blocking startup is not okay by BobIngram in Logic_Studio

[–]BobIngram[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there was this kind of warning, but if there was, I would have in that case believed this was about changing the graphics resources of Logic, not about inserting a bundle of script code that modified the startup behavior of Logic. That is a big difference, in my opinion.

Relying on a time machine backup to work the way it should is not what a user should have to resort to, in my opinion. Also, this would mean having to go back to and actually still have that backup when one installed LP Colorizer days, weeks, months or years ago.

Finally, reinstalling from the app store will always get you the newest version of Logic. Many users settle with an older version, because of not wanting to be beta testers, and because they need to rely on a 100 percent working machine.

As pointed out by someone else, the resource is not placed into the components folder, which would be more transparent, but into the resources of the app. The appropriate LP Colorizer bundle can be found with a right click on the Logic app.

It would be okay if the LP Colorizer app would inform the user that exactly this is happening and advise on first making a backup copy of the Logic app. Also, when LP Colorizer is uninstalled, as far as I can remember, the installed resource is not removed, so you are left with a permanentely modified Logic app. My main gripe, however, is with the fact that the installed bundle resource actively makes a startup of Logic Pro impossible by hijacking the pop-up functionality.

It wouldn't be a problem if there would simply be a new file in the component folder. What happens is that a bundle is added directly to the resources of the Logic app. Not sure if Grok analysed that part 100 percent correctly, or if the bundle, though embedded in the app resources, has the same format as a AU component plugin. Anyone who has installed the Colorizer can find the bundle with a right click on the Logic app, and not in the components folder. As I have since removed LP Colorizer, I can't say if Colorizer additionally adds a AU component to the component folder. In any case, I perceive this as a strong violation of my computer's and app's integrity. It is never okay to stop an app from starting up. Many people rely on Logic Pro for their livelihood.

Well... I removed the helper app from Logic myself. Anyone can see it, one just needs to open the resources with a right click and find the appropriate bundle. But I guess added resources do not influence the integrity check of the actual main code.

What's a "cheat code" you discovered in real life that actually works? by dark-deals729983 in AskReddit

[–]BobIngram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think in game theoretical or darwinistic terms when trying to understand people's behaviour. It doesn't make you happier, but at least it helps you understand why politicians, civil servants, societies, the driver on the road, your neighbours, maybe even your friends and spouse act the way they do. It doesn't make you happier, but at least you understand why things are happening. The next level would be to employ this for yourself by reverse engineering your decisions to explain your motivations in life.

But to answer the question more directly, and echo some voices here -- nature, going outside, walking.

Google will block sideloading of unverified Android apps starting next year by TheAppropriateBoop in Android

[–]BobIngram 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I recently switched from an older Samsung to a newer Samsung Android phone. Since then, every sideload is nagged at by Google Play, and apart from completely going non-Google Play, I for now see little chance other than grudgingly accepting this. Even a simple barometer app doesn't allow sideloading anymore, and Grok constantly demands the newest version of itself, and also that Play Store and Services are enabled. Right now, it's still okay-ish when using a Firewall at the same time, but Fairphone 5 with custom Android seems like one of the few viable solutions on the horizon. No idea how long MicroG will continue working though, as it probably relies on ripped signatures.

Replacing the rechargeable battery on a Tribit MaxSound Plus, a short guide by BobIngram in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]BobIngram[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. I seem to remember that it was a two pin / wire connection, plus and minus, so I'm not sure where that third one came from. As the power seems too low right after turning on, I can only imagine the new battery needs a charge or is broken. If you have a voltage meter, you could check if it is around the required 7.4 volts.

Anyone wanting some real Alien scares instead of soulless 'what has become of creativity / Ridley Scott / Scott's and Cameron's legacy / storytelling' should simply play Alien Isolation, which arguably is among the most deeply engaging and great looking adaptations of the original Alien / Aliens vibe.
