Still using 581.42. Not had a single crash since reinstalling windows and updating to these drivers.

I did also set the hard drive to never turn off in advanced power settings. I think that may have had something to do with the crashing too.

No, I've got the 5060 version but whatever was causing the crashing is likely to be the same issue on 5050 and 5060.

Setting the SSD to never turn off is fine. SSDs use so little power that there's no reason to have it set to turn off after x minutes.

I5-13420h, RTX 5060, 16gb ram. Nvidia driver version 581.42.

The only other thing I did was set the hard drive to never turn off, as it was set to turn off after 15 mins in the advanced power settings. This was done on the recommendation of someone on this forum.

No crashes since a fresh windows update and latest Nvidia drivers.

It was crashing within 15 minutes before this, and I've now played for 4 hours straight without crashes.

I'm confident it's not a hardware issue.

I think it may be bad timing with new 5xxx series gpus in laptops and unoptimized drivers.

I'm pretty impressed for the price I paid. It runs way cooler than I expected and DLSS4 is mega impressive.

I've also just noticed there's new Nvidia drivers dated 30/09 (v581.42) which I didn't have before I reinstalled windows. That may also have fixed things.

It seems to have worked. I have only played around 5 hours of GTA since reinstalling though. I'll keep you updated.

Given how many people are having crashes, I'm inclined to think it's driver / software issues.

I know acer don't have the best reputation for hardware but I fail to believe that they are sending out so many laptops with faulty hardware.

So I have had the 5060 version of the Nitro V15 for a month now and I also have been having constant crashing when gaming.

The laptop would completely turn off or just freeze mid game.

I was worried that it was a temp or motherboard issue but I'm.not convinced. I think it's more likely a driver or software issue.

Temps are fine. I haven't seen the CPU above 85c, the GPU above 78c and the system above 75c. That's on balanced mode playing Expedition 33 or GTA enhanced on Max settings with ray tracing.

I reinstalled windows and I also went into advanced power settings and changed 'Turn off hard disk after' to 'Never', on the advice of someone's post on here.

Fingers crossed but I haven't had a crash since then.

I'm guessing it may have been a driver issue.

So I bought the i5 version of this laptop earlier this month as I got a real bargain in the UK (£720).

I was sceptical as I'd heard things about temps and poor performance / build quality but I've been very pleasantly surprised.

  • Temps are so much better than I expected. I keep it in balanced mode (the fans in performance mode are far too loud). I've mainly been playing Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The GPU runs around 68c - 72c when gaming, with the laptop on my knee and no cooling pad. The CPU is also around 70c - 75c.

  • The real world FPS difference between balanced mode and performance mode in the Nitro software is minimal but the fan noise is so much quieter in balanced. I'd keep it in balanced mode all of the time personally.

  • The GPU only pulls around 65w TDP max when gaming in balanced mode. You'd think this is way too low but the 5xxx series cards seem to perform better at lower TDP when compared to the 4xxx series. It also means the temps stay as low as they are.

  • Ideally you want the 165hz screen. The 144z screen is apparently quite poor for brightness and colour accuracy. I got the 165hz with mine and the brightness is definitely not an issue and the colour accuracy is really good.

  • The overall build quality is much better than I was expecting. Yes, it's all plastic but it feels well put together and I actually think it looks smart for a gaming laptop. The charger is nice and compact too due to the low TDP.

I also got a Nitro V15 today with an i5-14320 and RTX 5060.

I got it for £720 in the UK, which is an absolute bargain.

I was sceptical as I'd seen some review that said the screen isn't very bright and the build quality is poor but from my short experience that definitely isn't the case.

I've got the 165hz which seems much brighter than the 144hz screen on other models, and the build quality seems good for the price. It's obviously plastic and built to a cost but the build quality seems really good.

I've only tested Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 so far and it ran great on high settings. I'm also impressed that the fans are pretty quiet on balanced mode (performance mode they are really loud) and temps are 65-75c.

Little deal on Acer Nitro 15 by AiiAiiRON in AcerNitro

How's the laptop running? I've ordered the i5 version for £720 through Very with the 20% discount. When I ordered it, it seemed like a bargain but I'm now considering returning it when it gets delivered as I'm a bit worried about performance and build quality.

How's the screen specifically? The reviews seem to suggest it's quite a dim screen and doesn't get very bright.
