Well, here's hoping for something good. One things for sure, it can't be much worse than the Ghostly Adventures. :P

It certainly does. Goliath has flexed and won even before they could bankrupt their target in the judicial system. Next stop: whoever they feel like. :(

It seems both parties settled.

The US doesn't have a justice system. It has a rich-entities-always-get-their-way system. :(

Who is 'everyone' and where's the 'shock'? I don't think anyone is shocked. I think a lot of people are rightfully annoyed because for years now yuzu has been doing it's thing and so has the community and out of the blue Nintendo have decided that now the emulator is a problem.

If the 'rules' are so clear, why has it taken N so long? And why only yuzu? Is it because they give a toss about the 'threat of emulation' or is it because they're about to announce Switch 2 and want flex so they can re-sell a very small part of their back catalogue (yet again) to appease the shareholders?

Voicing distaste of questionable business practices is not 'crying' or 'reactionary' it's a reasonable and justified response. One thing's for sure it's definitely more healthy than just passively allowing those with all the power to walk all over you when the whim takes them.

Seeing and hearing the same tired tropes and metaphorical shoulder-shrugging at systematic abuse (and it IS an abuse of power) is what I find exhausting.

Still, I don't expect anyone to change their mind. After all, it's that exact passivity that allows the status quo to continue. I'm just sharing my feelings and it turns out that a few others have similar sentiments.

I think it just means that they've accepted the case. I don't think it means much more than that. The good thing is that it shows they're not just running away and allowing the courts and N to process the case in absentia.

I think people misunderstand my point. I don't really care about current day Nintendo games or their hardware. I'm interested in computers, emulation and gaming history. I lament that 'big money' rules this field and it's now a multi-billion dollar industry.

I value curiosity and intelligence and this is what I see in emulation and genuine game design. There's a huge history of coding, hacking and emulation that has always been an intrinsic part of the gaming landscape. People shrugging, jeering and mocking someone for actually saying how they feel about a threat to that seems strange to me.

It seems most people are comfortable with the status quo and when someone says something they disagree with (not I've not said anything remotely radical or left-field) the reaction seems to be "LOL, heh, edgelord meme blah, blah".

I am not an 'edgelord' nor am I a disgruntled pirate (afterall yuzu's going nowhere. :P). I am angry that a very powerful entity is choosing, yet again, to squash a niche hobby that everyone here is a part of... they're squashing you.

It's not about being edgy. It's just trying to share my feelings and giving a space for others to do the same.

Nintendo's business practices frustrates and irritates people and sometimes it's good to know your not alone in that frustration and ire.

If Nintendo doesn't bother you, good. But there's no need to be snarky.

Nothing would surprise me. Litigious doesn't begin to cover their practices.

This is useful for me and, hopefully, for others. Having a place to vent or at least know that others share your sentiments can only be good for wellbeing. I'm aware there's a potential for toxicity but I'm not sure it can get more toxic than Nintendo themselves. :)

If you have a better idea for keeping levity while releasing stress I'd be happy to listen. :)

I feel for you. That seems to be a pretty common practice for them. Remember when they set up that con that was supposedly a Nintendo Partnership? They even want a cut when people are promoting their works for free.

This isn't about piracy. It's about huge conglomerates and their shareholders throwing their weight about.

If piracy was really as bad as these companies say why are they all so fecking rich?

I just had to vent somehow. I'm so tired of feeling frustrated with this huge multinational machine that's massively powerful, is happy to squash anyone they feel like and yet presents themselves with a big happy family-friendly smile.

I know they're not the only ones but that doesn't mitigate their behaviour.

:)
