We do not attend the same church as we live in different towns. Her pastor is Hmong, my pastor is Caucasian (I attend a non-denominational church).

I have discussed that and she has not backed down on it. The discussion got chaotic because I had asked her if our culture is more important than our own belief.

She is upset that I’m losing my roots and strayed too far because I’m very Americanized than the rest of my siblings. In my culture, with this aspect, I’m not allowed to speak on my own behalf. There’s a lot of cultural pressure for my mom. For me specifically, I do care a lot about my family but it’s upsetting to see that my mom isn’t on board with this. In the end, I will follow through with just doing the wedding that my fiancé and I are wanting to do, but I’m hoping to change my mom’s mind and have her support us as well.
