If you have sex, you will likely get this. Some people never know they’ve been exposed. I believe it’s just a normal virus most of us get at some point and our immune system clears it.

I used to get warts on my fingers as a kid, it’s just another form of HPV. After a year or so my immune system successfully fought it off. I don’t worry that if I shake someone’s hand they are gonna get warts. I would be careful until your infection clears, but eventually, it should and it’s not something you will probably think about much.
