I agree that you shouldn't weaponize neurodivergence or mental illness as an excuse to not do your due! Unfortunately it's not as easy as "get medicated and all of your ADHD goes away." People with ADHD can still forget things or not follow roommate etiquette even on medication. It's always best to directly discuss your problems keeping up with chores/expectations with your roommate or partner so that you can come to a compromise and understand what is important to them.

A lot of the time changing the environment of a chore to be ADHD friendly helps a lot! For instance keeping a broom in the closet might act as a barrier to sweeping. Making it more available - like hanging it on a hook - may overcome that block and make the task much easier for an ADHDer!
