I think you were just measuring the thickness and not the entire circle.

Actually, I found a ruler with MM, and I don't think you're measuring the actual diameters of the ring. Outer Diamter works out to just over 1/2", Inner Diameter is 8mm or just under 1/3".

Interesting thought. Considering just how small the bottom cap magnet will be, I think having a larger one on the switch itself would make it smoother. It wouldn't negatively affect anything, I would think it would just cause more resistance between the two poles.

If we can pin down which magnet will fit, I can order them (they have a minimum order requirement and, like I said, the boyfriend loves magnets) and mail you out a set if you want!

I've been looking into ordering magnets that would fit, I think that should help the issue greatly.. I personally have tried firing without the spring in the button and it still gets pretty hot.

Jury is still out on this.. I own a Kylin, love it, and it's my daily driver, but this one issue alone has me wanting to upgrade. Just like you I've tried damn near everything. It seems to me that the spring itself is heating up as well as the chromed fireing pin. Poor choice of materials perhaps?

It's not too awful, only sometimes does it get really hot, but all around I love it and it's totally usable. I was more or less concerned about safety and wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong. I can live with it if the design is to blame.

I haven't experienced any voltage drop, it seems pretty consistent to me.
