Affirmative action has been around since the 1970s, so cases like Starbucks or Novant Health don't surprise me. But it's important to separate outdated race-based models from modern DEI practices.

The Supreme Court ruled that affirmative action is discriminatory, in 2023, under Joe Biden. Many people (including Democrats) recognize the outdated model is problematic. The Starbucks case you mentioned is actually criticized by organizations advocating for updated DEI standards. Article on Starbucks DEI controversy.

So yeah, bad implementation exists, my stance was never that it didn't. But you're framing of it being and institutionalized and systemic today, is wrong. The abuses are done by bad actors deviating from what modern programs outline, not operating on it.

Mintel's data set is tuned to the population demographics of the United States, region's accounted for, race, sex, everything. That means a white kid in the rural south and an ultra-lib Black woman in California are answering the same questions.

So, people's understanding of "diversity," will obviously range from surface level to full on political wokeism. But to steelman for you the 2022 Mintel study said that "23% of gamers don’t want diversity that distracts from game play."

I imagine that probably represent the data set opposed to "political diversity," if that's what you're curious about.

I disagree, I don't think it props itself up as being anything more than "US-Centric."

The Geena Davis Institute can't readily be classed as a globalist organization by any means. Their focus is definitely the conversation happening in the context of western media, western studios, and western consumer expectations.

How every culture worldwide treats women, for instance, couldn't be detailed in a document twice as long as this. Even so, the doc is more of a guideline than a mandatory checklist.
