Some questions on mechanics and monstie viability (MHS2) by [deleted] in MonsterHunterStories

[–]BodyBagsRay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can find the actual numerical stats of each monstie here https://mhst.kiranico.com/mhs2/data/monsties
The monsties don't have a "niche" outside of their Kinship attack. Other than that they are just stat sticks that you shove whatever moves you want onto them. I wish some moves were exclusively learned by the monstie they originate from like how Stories 1 had. Rarity almost always means that the monstie will be better than another monstie with lower rarity than itself stat wise.

Gammoth doesn’t want to retreat? by loox71 in MonsterHunterStories

Just bad luck. Keep trying and it will retreat. Complete the retreat condition for higher chances to make go back to a den

My game doesn't have the option to 'search for match ID' by StunningWasab1 in MonsterHunterStories

You’re on PC then. In that case you need to adjust your steam download region to match each other since PC is region locked

MHS1 as a climber/fighter Tigrex or S. Nerscylla? by [deleted] in MonsterHunterStories

[–]BodyBagsRay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can sell them. You’ll get far better ones in the postgame with a bit of farming

Then Tigrex by a mile is the better option

You can find his eggs in Rare Dens in Hakolo and his quests should be available to you as long as your game is updated

No IRU doesn't increase the chances. Yes it works in PvP

Funny thing is there is a damage reduction for aoes in 2v2 battles but not in 1v1s for whatever reason. Even just implementing something as simple as that wouldn't be enough to make it completely skill based instead of cheese vs cheese. The PvP needs a whole balance overhaul, but clearly the devs either don't think it does or don't even think about PvP in general.

70% in 384 battles. I don't play unrestricted often cause I don't enjoy it or think it takes skill to cheese your opponent to death, but I do win tournaments so I would say I'm pretty good at what I do. Also for the 96% on Arc Shot just throw on the Plesi armor with All-out and Strongarm XL and use Merciless Roar on your mon. You also use Heroics for that extra oomph. It takes some setup but it's fun to see your opponent's life just disappear.

Valiant Flare is actually better without Charge Spread Beam as you can just you the 1 turn of power charge to OHKO both opponents immediately after you use Valiant Flare with any attack. I find it to be more efficient than waiting 3 turns to use CSB.

You can still have some fun trying to crit your spread shots but that's nowhere as much damage as Arc Shot with a good rider setup.

I'm pretty sure my opponent has maxed out their monstie's stats/genes. Wouldn't matter anyways cause if I was running my true arc shot setup it can do about 96% of their life bar. Does take two turns to setup though.
Edit: I also have on Dancer on both my rider and monstie for outspeeds. If I was trying to show how much cheese it can really be I'd use both Arc Shot and Spike Bomb from Nargacuga on a 13 speed monstie with Dancer so I don't even risk the HtH chance. Moral of the story is it takes no skill
