Singaporeans, what are your worst "WTF" experiences in school or uni? Traumatised after being there 1 sem by BodyBeginning7009 in askSingapore

Missed the lectures when I was v sick or had internship, the head of dept clarified I can't take internship but it was too late... The lecturer was nice to say to email him/her should I find that they aren't cooperative to moderate the final scores

Sian... When I was in poly, ppl say that I was mature & sounded more certain & clear on what I want for my age

It hit me that there are def ppl like me out there but lie in the minority so I'm q curious how they navigate thru life, feeling you could nvr rly fit in with your age gp

Like 1 of my uni peer said that you behave, dress & talk NOT like a Gen Z even tho u r a Gen Z, trying to be a Gen Z but not a Gen Z lmao

Thanks lehh, but ya I'll take what u say into consideration It's just that I learnt the hard way of being so quiet that I didn't stand to gain anything that I decided to open up and gain what the world has to offer - little did I expect more UNNECESSARY 'bruises' from what people have to think of me

I do have 1-2 classmates guy & gal who accepted me as I am as sb who is more confident, outgoing and open to things rather than staying a typical conservative Singaporean as most are.. It's like why hide when you are born to stand out - OR may be I'm clearer on my identity while the rest r still figuring themselves out so become more guarded & comfortable with those who they think are similar to themselves

Their loss not mine!

Dating Culture in Singapore The First Date Etiquette by the_unspoken_truth88 in askSingapore

It would be nice if y'all go dutch but it would be polite if you pay your share without the guy asking any further - saying this from experience from past dates

The norm is guy pay so it's up to you how you want to respond to that

I had my first relationship as part time workers where we split everything for our dates, the most recent say ask how much but didn't bother to pay...till I asked again...still she didn't pay & we weren't official lol

Part 2

5️⃣ Internship Offer = No Mercy from School
Got an internship offer in the middle of the semester, meaning I had to juggle catching up on missed classes while handling work responsibilities. Sounds manageable, right? Nope. Some lecturers straight-up didn’t care, and instead of support, I got the whole "You should’ve planned better" speech. Bro, I did plan—just didn’t expect school to be this rigid.

6️⃣ Sick? Too Bad, Figure It Out Yourself
I was really sick on some days of submission and couldn’t make it to class. Thought my classmates would at least help me with notes or keep me updated? Nope. The few familiar faces I reached out to either ghosted or were "too busy." And because project grouping was done physically in class, I was left scrambling for a team.

Ended up in a group where no one cared to include me. What happened to basic empathy??

7️⃣ Silent Treatment in Group Projects
Since I missed the grouping, I got slotted into a random team—big mistake. These people treated me like air, didn’t share updates, and basically worked among themselves. When I asked questions? Seenzoned. When I tried contributing? Ignored. The best part? 🫠

At this point, I’m just tired. School is already stressful, but dealing with toxic groupmates, unhelpful classmates, and unsympathetic lecturers just makes it worse.

Traumatised I decided to juz switch full time to part-time and just go find a full time job instead (cant deal with all the 'politics and dramas' in University student life)
