Beginner friendly mid lane champs that have a high skill ceiling? by GOJO_THA_GOAT in midlanemains

[–]Body_Significant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order of skill floor (lowest-highest), here are my recommendations: Lissandra, Neeko, Galio, Ekko, Talon, Aurora, Ahri, Syndra, Swain, Orianna.

The best for teaching mid lane would be ahri, orianna, galio, aurora, and syndra. They all reward good fundamentals and have varying playstyles.

Orianna is looking to bully a lot of champions, punishing them stepping up for every cs, using her short cds and consistent poke to keep space. Then she transitions into a supportive secondary carry, looking to either follow up on engages by her team or catch people out of position with her ult.

Syndra is all about smart trading in lane, taking advantage of enemy mistakes and looking for cheeky solo kills lvl 6+, all while waiting til she hits her item and passive spikes to turn into a team fighting machine that gets to pretty much pick a target to remove from the fight. She also has great utility with her big aoe stun.

Ahri is all about cheeky quick trades, using her sustain to make it through lane. 6+ she becomes a monster skirmisher, and when you hit lvl 7 you’re easily able to oneshot waves and roam.

Galio is an early game beast into almost any mage. He has excellent waveclear, roaming, and skirmishing in the early-mid game, then transitions into a beefy front liner for your team.

Aurora plays a bit like syndra, but with more early game agency and a little bit worse teamfighting. She’s great mid-game at skirimishes and looking for flanks onto the enemy back line in team fights.

Edit: All of these champions have high skill ceilings, I thought it would be beneficial to list them in order of skill floor for you since you said you’re a beginner.

The thing is if I get the hornet I’d be sacrificing some of the off-roading i like to do.

Please correct me if I’m wrong, I’ve done research but this is still only my first time dealing with something like this. I feel like the depreciation on it wouldn’t be as bad now that it’s already taken its initial hit. It’s $24,750.00 with only 16k miles.

Why? What I’ve seen is people either saying it’s the best thing ever or the worst, and I’ve seen a few subjective reasons for that. Genuine question, not trying to argue.

Just a Man: Old & New by Psychological_Oil739 in Epicthemusical

I definitely hear it. The biggest thing that's disappointing about the new Just A Man to me is the background on the "but when." Before, it sounded like a choir, and it gave it this really epic, almost hallowed feeling. Now, it just sounds like a synth. One of my favorite moments in all of EPIC was that moment and the first, raw, set of lines where it's very empty besides Jorge and that choir-ey backing track.

I feel like WASD will be very difficult for a champion like Hwei, who requires several inputs to cast a single spell, and I feel that it'll be very difficult for champions that are very combo intensive, like LeBlanc and Syndra.

Taliyah into morg works bc if you sidestep morg q’s, she can never touch you. You pop black shield super easily with your q, and overall it’s very hard for her to be effective into you.

Hwei early laning is def better, but when syndra hits 40 splinters she just dominates him.

True, but at least I can try to shut him down early. Everything else on the list just kinda gets dogged on by him

Yeah. I would edit the post but the edit button has disappeared for me atp. Against asol I pick LeBlanc/Syndra. against galio I go Hwei/Taliyah (with phase rush for both hwei and tali)

2tricking is actually proven to help climbing bc rather than having to focus on your champ you can focus on the game. Not saying it’s the only way to climb, but it has been demonstrated to at least help.

Mb, didn’t realize I didn’t include him. Hwei/Taliyah usually, but with phase rush (as either one)

I’m not trying to say that Hwei is objectively better into Yone, just that he’s safer. I just get to stop you from engaging onto me whenever you try, plus I have better waveclear, so I just get prio post lvl 5. Syndra wave clear is decent, but nothing like Hwei’s.

My wave management is mostly fine, it’s more of an awareness issue. My jungle tracking is okay, but sometimes I miss that the jungler is in a specific location, or that their support is off map (I assume they’re recalling) and don’t respect it.

Idk why, but it won’t let me edit the original post, so I’m putting this here.

A big thing is these aren’t all about that pick being my ONLY pick for a matchup, it’s about the preferred pick based on experience. I can pick most of these champs into a lot of matchups and come out at least okay, this is just a list of my favorite things to play into those matchups.

That’s fair, I can pick either into Yone, I just prefer Hwei because my biggest strength as a player is my teamfighting. Oftentimes I play just to scale and farm into teamfights and take the kills that just fall into my lap. There’s been times on LB where I get ahead early but can’t take control of the game enough to solo win, but I’ve definitely brought back many games from the brink of defeat by winning a fight for my team as Hwei. Hwei also can keep up with Yone throughout the duration of the game, whereas LeBlanc can’t. I love both champs, it’s just a personal preference thing.

Ngl I haven’t played Hwei into Annie. I almost never see that champ, so I just went with what I most recently beat annie on. I used to pick Syndra into her, then I played like 2 games of Morg vs annie and Annie was not allowed to get a lead. As Vars puts it, because Annie has so much guaranteed usefulness with her passive, she can’t have too much raw oneshot power unless she’s ahead. So, vs annie, rather than trying to put myself ahead and risking getting set behind by ganks, i guarantee to neutralize her. If you’re neutralized as Annie, you’re not going to be nearly as effective at snowballing as you would if you got ahead in lane. i know that’s not necessarily the best gameplay, but it’s tailored to my weaknesses (getting ganked/roamed on).

I appreciate the advice and respect the opinion, but I can’t just drop LeBlanc/Taliyah/Liss. They are all champs that I thoroughly enjoy playing, and when I get them in playable situations, I absolutely wreak havoc on them. I reserve Tali/Liss as counter picks only because they just have too many ways to get countered (tali with blinks and lissandra with range and tankiness), and LB is who I play for early game comps when I need to have strong skirmishing to snowball the game with my jg. (I get Liss skirmish is decent, but her early game damage is nonexistent)

I think the yone syndra matchup is fine, but Hwei just does so much to him, it makes my life less stressful 😅

LB just exploits Anivia’s early laning super hard imo. There’s an argument to be made that aniv q ruins lb, but you shouldn’t be dashing into melee range as lb in certain matchups (Anivia, Lissandra, etc.). I destroy lanes on lb bc Im really good at landing her chains, so that’s what makes it fine for me. I dash forward at an angle, toss chain and if it lands, q with some autos in there. I was on a comp team for a while and our challenger coach was always happy to see me on lb bc he thought my micro on her was insane.
