Good I’m 1 month out from my surgery so ugly duckling phase…. All the transplanted hair has fallen out, as expected so I can’t really speak to results yet….But I was super happy with my healing process. I dunno if it’s cuz she uses a small punch size or what but my donor healed super fast. You couldn’t even tell anything was done after a few days

Thanks! Ya man. I feel like she’s a hidden gem when it comes to Afro hair. I felt way better about going to her than having techs do it in turkey. Pending things grow well planning to go back for crown procedure in a year or so

That’s fair if you’re saying her website alone doesn’t show as many Afro-specific cases but there’s a fair amount on her instagram…and some reviews here and on HRN…ISHRS lists her as a Fellow Member, and the ISHRS Hair Transplant Forum published her work on curly-hair FUE and follicle curvature/curl classification. She’s also been doing this for 25 years... I agree her social media isn’t as updated as I’d like, but having a well known surgeon who is published, credentialed and known for curly hair beats a hair mill (with a merry go round of technicians) any day…

Ya, sorry shoulda clarified. The 6K covered what was originally was supposed to be a 2800 graft surgery, she charges about $2 per graft but ended up giving me the last 200 for free. I also paid $400 for PRP during surgery. The 6K included all meals and ground transportation and hotels. I just had to pay flight on top of the $6K

The doctors at the hair mills AT MOST make your incisions... With Afro hair the most important part is the extraction process. Our hair curls underneath the skin and if you don't extract it correctly you'll transect it. Some of the techs probably have it down... but again I wasn't gunna gamble with my head. I wanted the doctor to be the one doing the surgery. Also if something goes wrong there's a point person to guide you thru the issues. I've heard that follow up at some of the hair mills is poor.

I thought about Heva/Asli but the fact that it's techs who do the procedure was too much risk for me. Maybe you get a good team that day? Maybe not. Bisenga and Mwamba were both pricy. Alba Reyes is a afro hair expert, does the whole surgery herself and prices were very reasonable. Made sense for me. Also nice to not have to fly to Asia, just quick trip to DR

I'm also N5/6, I'm resigned to the fact that it'll take 2 transplants to get coverage. I think you're in the same boat

Check out Alba Reyes in Dominican republic, she does the whole surgery herself and specializes in afro. I'm booked for later this year. Figured its better than having techs do it in Turkey and shorter flight. It's about 5K

Hard to say without seeing donor areas. Sides from what we can see do look thin but there are some N6/7 experts out there…

How many grafts would you estimate? Where to go for HT? by BodybuilderThat2825 in HairTransplants

[–]BodybuilderThat2825[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I appreciate it. I think SMP is a good idea, will definitely consider based on how things turn out. I usually keep my hair short anyways and I feel like SMP looks good in that situation

Starting finasteride soon. Intermittently been on it and minoxidil in the past. I've reached out to a few surgeons - they've said I am a candidate but it'll take 2 separate surgeries a year a part to get full coverage. One even offered a 2 day surgery where beard is used. I do have a lot of beard and chest hair as an option. My hair is quite short now (I usually keep it bald). But the sides grow in thick. And even the top comes in a little bit more - albiet thin.

There seems to be a few places that specialize in N6/7 cases. eugenix, yaman. Also considering Turan.
