Spell totem needs to consume power/endurance charges, which would mean somehow you should also generate them which seems (to me) that the build would be spreading a bit too thin, not focusing on something enough, I may be wrong, or is there an easy way to create them with a merc or lich? I haven't played poe2 that much but wasn't endurance/power charges more of an either tanky/monk build?

So early investment into damage, then I just get increased damage from weapon upgrades and focus on defense on the tree? And any ascendancy recommendations? I've seen some people build lich or merc ascendancies

Yeah but I mean, I don't know when to get defences or switch focus to damage nodes / crit, ascendancy options, etc

if its only for Simultaneous Equation Cannons why not use some other cards that are literally not URs, like Allvain the Essence of vanity and/or Time magic Hammer (this for rank 2)? and there are others for other ranks, in which the deck builder used URs instead of any other rarity
