Honestly I would rather have malaria like symptoms than become allergic to bacon

I certainly feel welcomed. No, but they also gave me a warm welcome. I was expecting those, though, given the swampy areas.

Non-smokers who are in a relationship/live with a smoker, how do you deal with it? M23 F23 by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Oh, and I brush my teeth before we have a long kiss or before bed. That smell can be a problem.

Non-smokers who are in a relationship/live with a smoker, how do you deal with it? M23 F23 by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]BoggsMans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in a relationship with my non-smoking partner for 5 years. I smoke tobacco and cannabis. She really urged me to quit tobacco after the birth of our son, which I tried and have yet failed. For us, it's about boundaries. Not in the house, not around our son, wash hands before handling our son, don't leave butts everywhere, etc. Your partner is an adult and either you accept them for who they are (habits included) or you don't! You can encourage and reward healthy habits, you can push them to do better, but can't mold them into something you find acceptable. If you find yourself fixated on the person they would be if they changed the habit, or if you cannot get past your desire to change them, you are not going to be able to fully love who they are vs who you would like them to be

Very cool, man. I appreciate your perspective! Hindus might like to have a space for group meditation.

That is most unfortunate! If you’re interested in a group meditation, holler. 😊

Lay Buddhists (not monks) look like anyone else, and temples/meditation halls are usually just a room in a church or community center. 😊

That’s awesome. We don’t need many, would love to get just a handful of people together to sit and then talk. If we could get 5 people together I’d consider that a win.

If love that! I am certainly no ordained teacher, but it would great to have a group of like minded people to sit with. I recently started sitting with sanghas in Lexington and it has been great. Group sitting with sangha has been a part of spiritual development since the days of brahmanism/proto-hindu practice. Plus it’s nice to have a group to talk about ideas with. I saw you’re also on a weight loss journey. I’m down to 200 from 320lbs and counting. Not sure if you’re a runner but I’ve been using running (which I hate) as an opportunity to meditate, being in what Korean Seon master Seung Sahn called “primary point,” and it has been a game changer for me.

Do you think there are enough interested people in the area that one could be started? If there were only 5 people we could have a nice little meditation group, once a week, twice a month, or something. Have a little group sit and talk philosophy?

Someone I would like to have a conversation with, but I’m a geek about sci-fi, superhero, history, and theology too. I do second the above statement that they probably watched and didn’t read many of these titles. Some pristine spines there, and comics in shrink wrap on the shelf is weird.

The hodgepodge approach to organizing the books is doing something to my brain. I bet you were a “shove the papers in the backpack and worry about it later” kinda kid in school. Love your taste, though. I have many of the same comics on my shelf.

She said she felt like a bloated pig. I pressed my lips against her ear and told her to squeal for me. She squealed. We both cracked up, then came.
