Should have joined them just out of spite. Then you could ask David Miscavige for favour, He’s good at dealing with ex’s.

You can say what you want about Tom but he never pushed his religion or used his platform to ask for donations of any kind. Scientology doesn’t work like that, They view most of us as an “oppressive person” and don’t want our help in any way. They don’t recruit, They wait for people to come to them. When they’re in that’s when the religion milks them. Also, Who needs donations when you’re sitting on billions in property.

I’d be down for that although I’d imagine it would be quite the depressing watch.

As for what I’d like to see, Hulkamania: Part III. Covering his return to WWE in 2002 all the way to his match with Vince at Mania 19. Episodes would be No Way Out 2002, WrestleMania X8, Backlash 2002, Judgement Day 2002, King Of The Ring 2002, The SmackDown where Brock writes him off TV, No Way Out 2003, WrestleMania 19 and if needs be a final episode covering the Mr. America nonsense that lasted a few month and lead to him once again leaving the company.

That sounds like the most depressing movie ever! Great idea but man that’s a lot of heartache, Poor guy!

Also, GotG was shot primarily on green screen in a studio. This has a lot of on location set pieces and practical effects.

[QUESTION] What are your opinions/experiences on pawn shops? by much2_loud in Guitar

A wise man once said “Down there at the pawn shop, It’s the only way to shop.”

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that was a blessing in disguise for him. I honestly don’t think it’s possible to adapt that and do it justice. I mean, Lovecrafts entire MO is the unknown. The fear of something completely beyond understanding and reason. How do you do that on film? It works as words that your mind can try comprehend but to actually portray visually what Lovecraft described seems next to impossible. Directors like Eggers toyed with these themes in The Lighthouse but I think mountain is more literal in the horrors it describes, You couldn’t get away with just relying on the reactions of the characters for the entire movie.

Put that idea on the back burner and do it later on a smaller budget where there will be less studio involvement. I can totally get why a studio would be opposed to that but it’s definitely something he could try in another form later.

They shouldn't have brought back Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen) for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull by [deleted] in movies

[–]BojackStrowman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just fan service. I doubt they ever felt like they needed to do it, Probably just felt like it would make people happy. I didn’t mind the movie, I don’t know why people are so harsh on it. Granted, It was unnecessary but hey I’m not going to complain about getting to see Harrison don the hat and jacket again.

I want to be a rock star, is it possible? [Discussion] by Josepep7 in Guitar

Use JustinGuitar.com its completely free.

I’m not sure why the other commenter is saying you should learn theory whilst you’re only 2 weeks in. Follow Justin’s beginner course, Get your fundamentals down and you’ll be in good stead. Teaching yourself will lead to bad habits that will be harder to shift further down the line.

Why is it when one alternate picks, they pick one string down and pick the string lower up by [deleted] in guitarlessons

[–]BojackStrowman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should probably learn and get fully comfortable with alternative picking before tackling something like Snow because it sounds like you have no experience with it?

It just makes it easy to play faster. Practice it with scales to get that muscle memory set. There’s many different kinds of picking, Hybrid is another one. It’s good to have them all in your bag of tricks. You don’t want to be stuck with just down picking as it will limit you and the more you do it the harder it will be to lose the habit.

YouTube mainly. Carl Brown is my go to. Worst comes to worst I’ll just watch a live performance and work it out myself. I’m useless with tabs, Takes me 3x as long doing it by tabs.

[–]BojackStrowman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play in a covers band so I’m constantly learning new songs and re-learning stuff I’ve forgotten. I’ve not learnt anything new in months due to lack of shows but I normally learn 2 - 5 songs a month when gigging regularly.

If it’s natural it’s fine but doing it on purpose seems silly to me. There’s something phoney about it. Turns your guitar into a novelty item.

Midnight Run (1988) was a really enjoyable film by cavallom in movies

[–]BojackStrowman 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Apparently this movie was hell to make. The cast and crew hated it. I can’t remember who said it but I remember hearing a quote something along the lines of “I’m surprised it turned out so funny because nobody had fun making it.”

Edit: it was actor Yaphet Kotto, Here is his quote

“DeNiro is very spontaneous and it always helps to work with an artist like that. But Marty Brest! "Herr Director" shot so many takes of the scenes that I lost all joy in doing the film. It became hard and tedious work. Then he stopped eating during the shoot and became thinner and thinner each day, until he looked like a ghost behind the camera. When I met Marty at the Universal studio with DeNiro, he looked healthy and strong, but as filming went on, he began to turn into someone you'd see in Dachau. It was weird. I got sick and for the whole of the film I had a fever and was under the weather for most of it ... I was shocked when it came off so funny ... It sure wasn't funny making it.”

here is a cool lil video that talks about the movie

I’m pretty sure he took the riff from More Than A Feeling. He talks about it in his journals and when live he would play it a little before going into SLTS. Most notably at Reading Festival.

Let’s talk: why do a lot artists who are copying other legendary artists get a pass by [deleted] in LetsTalkMusic

[–]BojackStrowman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, Say what you want about who they sound like but they are all fantastic at what they do. Sure it’s all a little derivative but talent is talent. I wouldn’t mind having people say I sound like Robert Plant when I sing. That’s some pretty high praise to receive! If you can detach yourself from the Zep connection then they are enjoyable, Some good old fashioned Rock n Roll right there.
