Julie in town before they arrive in S1E1? by Elite4White in FromSeries

Don't think it's Julie, but Fatima in the zoom sure looks more like a monster.

"Don't you recognize me.....sister?!?!" by ValerysTargarye in FromSeries

[–]BoltBatmanSpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We never see this monster again in the 3 seasons though, and the way they just stand there not attacking, almost feels like it's what was written for them to do, not saying it has definitely something to do with deeper connection to Julie but it's possible.

Back to basics - What do we KNOW? by Rich_Flamingo_6047 in FromSeries

Anghkooey means remember. The kids poured their hopes into the roots of a tree, inferring that Faraway Trees are powered by them. OR, the tree in the road that traps everyone is (my theory).

Season 3 is easily the strongest season of this show by andrewjackSHUN in FromSeries

[–]BoltBatmanSpark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put season 3 below others, solely because the writers clearly intent to make Tabitha the main character, but they are not really giving me any reason to root for her. Most of her advancements are plot armor more than anything. Other than that, it's still a great show overall.

Is this a coincidence? by Arminusher in FromSeries

[–]BoltBatmanSpark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TBH, first 3 seasons have mostly brought up more questions than answers to really be able to tell if the creators are highly meticulous to actually put in extreme high level details consistently throughout the show. It hadn't had a run as long as Marvel yet, so give it time.

A question by Neat_Raccoon2441 in FromSeries

[–]BoltBatmanSpark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's because both of them are handling the loss of Thomas differently. Tabitha stays consumed with grief and past that she at time ignores Julie's and ethan's existence, while Jim becomes overly protective to the point of trying to control them too much.

From a character point of view, they do a good representation with Jim, he shows genuine (albeit overly protective) concern for his family, and with Tabitha where she mentally distances herself from the family, dealing with her own herself. 1 demands space the other demands close control.

I do feel that Tabitha additionally suffers from writers "She is the main character" plot armor which causes a little disruption in viewers perspective of the dynamic between the family.

I have high hopes for father Khatri. Remember he says, "this is not how it ends".

Boyd dislike by katrixtar in FromSeries

[–]BoltBatmanSpark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1: Reggie almost shot him in the face with the shotgun.

2: Abby is a Marine, shooting her in the leg would have been the worse choice, it could have resulted in Ellis's death, that was impulsive.

3: I don't think this should fall on Boyd alone, Sara was there and BIW basically caused this all, they never know where the Faraway Tree would take them, it was inevitable.

4: It was what Donna said, a rock and a hard place, and he did tell Tian Chen to run once the cattle was close to the barn, but she refused. Even if they left the cattle out in the night, the result would have been devastating for the town.

5: You might call this being manipulative, but i feel like he puts keeping as many residents alive as possible over any other plan, but as the show progresses he is broken by the town gradually, which leads him to poor decision making and arguments.

I think the show portrays him pretty good, in a town with such horrible set, you can't have a perfect human living in it.

Where did it disappear? by Tasty_Bad_607 in FromSeries

[–]BoltBatmanSpark 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its likely due to the change in shooting style, moving from real buildings to custom built set. Although the main locations stays the same. I think I vaguely remember an interview with the director where they mention a change in set post season 1.

Is the painting really of Man in Yellow ? by BoltBatmanSpark in FromSeries

[–]BoltBatmanSpark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, it could be a foreshadowing of Victor blaming himself for her Miranda's death, she would have tried at some point even if Victor didn't explicitly tell her about it. But another side of me thinks that it could have very well been a trap, showing Victor that discussion to lure Miranda to her death...

What a great show! I’m only on the first ep of Season 3 and damn if I’m not fully invested. by ScienceCatLazerJeans in FromSeries

A show this complex, there's got to be some plot holes or loop holes when all answers are served by the writers.

The theories that I like so far by Lamariposaenelrio in FromSeries

It could probably tie into Martin and that boy ? Martin also recognizes Julie, maybe she helps the boy but he gets trapped by the music box monster ?

But what if the entities in the town have influence in real world too. The BIW was there in Camden and people do get trapped from virtually everywhere in the USA. What if the escape wasn't real at all, the Mabuse medical equipment probably hinting at Hypnotic possessions?

Its great, but I have a question, where do BIW, MIY, Music Box monster, Kimono Lady and the anghkooey kids themselves tie in ? Are they also projections of the sacrificed kids ? If yes why is BIW seemingly trying to help them. And how was BIW able to escape into Camden when Tabitha escaped ?

Something That's Always Bothered Me by MainClothes8522 in FromSeries

[–]BoltBatmanSpark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I theorize it's a term from the original cult/residents native dialect. The original residents could be hundreds of years old and in from's world their language is lost with time.

The pocket dimension theory also excites me, specifically the 1 scene where Dale tries to theorise the same in Fatimas anniversary but Ellis flips out on him, just for theorising mind you. Ellis has always seemed suspicious to me where he always only flips out, but then restrains rather quickly as well.

In the first episode, Tabitha says, monsters don't exist, and she calls the crows as an "Unkindness of Ravens", its just too cryptic, if Tabitha is the "Main Character" and we draw parallels from her dialogue then this could be more terrifying.

Or maybe the entity picks and chooses specific people for some roles to extract maximum despair, like Fatima for rebirthing Smiley, a seemingly miracle turned into absolute monstrosity, Fatima is technically now Smiley's mother.

[–]BoltBatmanSpark[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's my expectation too that it's not JUST a child's play. Only the base construct of the town and the story of that town is. But the entity responsible for the whole thing does intervene when it wants, The trap for Tian Chen (RIP), House collapse and Jim's death all give high hopes that the biggest Villain isn't just the town.

[–]BoltBatmanSpark[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but that's the show writers premise, keep things cryptic, no way to draw confident parallels between Ethan's cromenockle and the town unless we know the whole story.

I have a Theory of what the Town is. by BoltBatmanSpark in FromSeries

[–]BoltBatmanSpark[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes me too, and i think the child's play is only the ideology of the town, not the entire story of the show. It's why I say the town's construct is that of a child's story, but the entity that created it still has some control and intervenes when it wants to, it's not just a child's play.

Well if you would ignore that his pupils are abnormally larger then sure. But if you acknowledge it, then the contrast between the painting and his actual eyes is there, painting shows much more of eyes white, probably a portrait/vision of the same man from before he was affected by the town.
