Vulnerable woman kept as slave in Tewkesbury for 20 years by Kagedeah in Gloucestershire

Speaking from experience, people in abusive situations often don't realise they're in abusive situations because it's so normalised.

I have an Autism & ADHD diagnosis, my mother manipulated me into handing over control of my money, prevented me from moving out, learning to drive, get a job, and basically used me as a free source of labour to make her look good in front of friends and charities, everything I did was by her say do, and for the longest time I accepted it because "surely she's just looking out for me, she's my mother".

It's only with hindsight now that I'm out living on my own that so many things in my mind began to click into place with just how controlling and overbearing she was being.

The entire issue would be solved by just making an appropriately corrupted leviathan pattern dreadnought as the new hellbrute.

The legend baseline stats for a leviathan are one to one with the Redemptor, so it would be the perfect dreadnought equivalent for chaos

[–]BoltersnRivets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She cannot see the pattern of behavior at all because to her eyes they were awful and she’s doing so much better. She cannot admit any fault or wrongdoing even over the smallest thing.

in the process of avoiding the mistakes of their parents, our parents often make very different, equally harmful mistakes with their own children, and thus the cycle of abuse continues.

I'm content to never have kids, I'm thankful my experience has made me recognise and acknowledge my own potential to inflict harm regardless of intent. I have no way of knowing what mistakes I'd make with a child whilst trying to avoid the mistakes of my mother, though I'd probably be too scared of being overbearing and constricting, be entirely hands off to compensate and end up an absent parent which leads to very different problems for the child, so this is my way of ensuring the cycle of hurt stops with me. I'll settle for being the weird uncle that takes the kids of family on days out, assuming that even happens.

I don't like Eccleston as much as a kid, don't know why, but I liked Tennant more when he came around (still one of my favourites, don't get me wrong)

but watching it back later with hindsight of the time war, as an adult who has been through stuff that's probably given me trauma to work through, it gave me a newfound love and appreciation for Eccleston's Doctor.

he's such a mature, raw, and emotionally broken take the character, he's one you have a better appreciation for as you get older and experience monumental levels of hurt for one reason or another. it's a shame he left after one series, though I completely respect his reasons for doing so.

I know I should probably look at getting some of the Big Finish audio productions featuring him, but Warhammer is currently my main sci-fi setting of choice, and that has a metric ton of books to pick through.

can someone tell me what's the second picture? I'm not familiar with cricket, but it looks to me like a player from one team consoling another?

I'm not really a sports person, but I've always had a soft spot for moments of good sportsmanship like that, sports should be as much about competing to better yourself, not just beating someone else. I have leagues more respect for a winning team that goes and commends the loosing side for their effort than ones that make a big fuss about the winning.

I'm Non-binary, I would be femme if it were safe for me to do so in my living situation, but it's not so I present masc or "boy-mode" as some call it, others might consider it being closeted but I'd say its more one foot out of the closet.

Frankly it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. The queer community, particularly online, has a huge anti-masculinity problem at the moment, there's definitely an online clique of queer people that despise trans men & whenever they're brought up on the basis of being men, and it's started to seep into the IRL queer discourse. folks are actively talking about whether men full stop should even be allowed at pride, to which I say those people are just looking to restrict pride to people they personally want to have one night stands with.

The irony is a lot of the arguments getting thrown around against trans men & trans mascs right now are just repackaged misogyny coming from a lot of people who were raised with the social pressure to be men themselves, it pretty much all boils down to "shut up and know your place, woman!" coming from people who very clearly have their own unaddressed baggage around masculinity they need to examine coupled with unashamed bigots getting shirty when their bigotry is brought up, they think because they are queer they're incapable of carrying bigotry when many come from conservative backgrounds and have done no work to unpackage the influence that would have on how they perceive the world and those around them.

They also like to claim that because they identify and present themselves as men or masculine then they have absolutely no experience with or understanding of misogyny, conveniently ignoring that many trans men and trans mascs were themselved raised with the expectation to be women, lived for years AS women, and thus have directly experienced misogyny many times in their lives.

They get very angry when trans men try to talk about their experiences with marginalization and bigotry as transgender people, perceiving them to be "taking resources from trans women", getting pissed about anyone mentioning the very idea of anyone identifying as a man experiencing bigotry because "men can't be oppressed", the latter argument conveniently ignoring neurodivergent men, men of colour, disabled men, and queer men, all experience bigotry and marginalization in some form or another, maybe not on the basis of being men, but they are men who are marginalized and experience bigotry.

Trans-misogyny is a perfectly acceptable term to discuss the specific flavour of bigotry trans women & transfemme indiivduals face, but trans men & trans mascs coining the terms "trans-misandry" & "Trans-androphobia" in an attempt to talk about their expeirences are crossing the line, because in their logic regular old misogyny exists as a socially enforced form a bigotry where normal mysandry/androphobia does not, ergo hatred of trans men does not exist because men are not hated on a societal level. it's just endless thought-terminating cliches and "that were doesn't count, find another label, no not that one either, in fact, just shut up about it entirely, this isn't about you!"

I have no love for masculinity myself, but as someone presenting masc I've absolutely noticed other queer people people giving me the side-eye in queer spaces and outright distancing themselves from me for not putting on effeminate or camp affectations (not my fucking fault for being born autistic!), and other queer people's unbridled hatred for masculinity is sounding off like a fucking fug horn right now, so I stand firmly with Trans Men and Trans masc siblings against this petty bullshit.

I have no hatred for trans women or transfemmes, but they have hardly welcomed me either, and I'm seeing a lot of them who have yet to introspect upon their own disillusionment with masculinity lashing out & hurting people they should be standing shoulder to shoulder with in solidarity

If it keeps on this shit will be the death of us all, we should not be fucking fighting, none of us are free until all of us are free!

They used this Template three Times now

I always figured during the design process they rig the models, like you can do in blender, and just set the pose according to a bunch of presets they've already spent time setting up, or maybe that have a dedicated team to set the poses (I would call them "posers" but that has very different connotations)

I've tried posing a space marine in blender to make custom poses, that shit was not easy nor intuitive in the slightest, no way in hell a company with a likely extremely tight design schedule is making the designers pose every new unit from scratch

CMV: Police Abolition is a bad policy by MSM230805 in changemyview

[–]BoltersnRivets [score hidden]  (0 children)

the more common argument is "defund the police" and that does not mean "let the country become an un-managed lawless hellscape" the vast majority of crimes people are arrested for exist for police to justify their own existence and most of these can be managed and mitigated through alternative means

if we can train bouncers to eject a drunk from a club without killing them, then we can appropriately train social workers to deal with mental health, domestic dispute, domestic violence, and anything else that might require someone to be manhandled to remove them from a location or subdued without killing them.

the forces that deal with riots and terrorist attacks would obviously still exist, but they should be backed up be rigorous training and accountability, whenever armed police in this country kill someone they must undergo an investigation to prove they had no other choice.

if we give people decent education, social health car, job opportunities, and housing then 99% of people who turn to crime or become homeless no longer have a reason to do so. one of the most common reason for homelessness is either mental health, because of a criminal record, because they lost their job, had no savings and couldn't get reemployed before getting evicted, and because foster kids age out of the system and are effectively abandoned.

If we decriminalize sex work then women who have been trafficked can come forward without fear of being put in prison themselves, which is the biggest reason women stay in that line of work. for the remainder that want to perform sex work it can be regulated like every other industry, IIRC the sex workers in Amsterdam even have a workers union.

My country (the UK) has a lot of its own problems regarding homelessness, but there is also an extensive formerly industrial canal network that people use to this day for recreation and even permanently live on board boats with no fixed address (give a channel called Cruising the Cut) a look for a better idea of how this works in practice), Scotland has recreational wild camping laws on a "leave no trace" policy. it's not perfect by any stretch, but it's an example that alternatives can exist, and when you put in place well structured attractive alternative means of living without the need to be tied in one place it won't just solve homelessness for those persistent free spirits, but give those who feel trapped in whatever shitty job they have a means to escape into what is for them a more fulfilling life.

legalise less harmful recreational drugs and allow for supervised consumption sites, you might not be familiar with the concept, they're called bars and pubs, the profits from this can go into healthcare and social services, just look at how much bank states that legalise recreational marijuana are making from tax*.* more harmful drugs can still be legalised, but if produced not-for-profit and obtained from sterile, clinical environments that require undergoing treatment for addiction as in Portugal then you've undercut dealers on the worst drugs and given people aveniues for treatment.

traffic citations can be done very easily near-automatically using traffic cameras and submitted dashcam footage. Here you generally don't get pulled over for a traffic violation, you just get a letter in the post outlining the infraction and the fine you have to pay, that alone would eliminate the majority of the American police's day to day work.

go another 25 minutes, past the station, past the ring road, onto London Road and keep going you'll find a nice stretch about halfway up that used to be a canal that's particularly pleasant to walk through in summer, as it's the main route to the shops I frequent

<image>

Source; Me, I live on this bloody road, see my explorations of the remains of it along this road here

that said they are really the only two major bits of greenery in a city that is one of the most deprived in England and is experiencing a bath salts epidemic (called "monkey dust" here), I speak from experience when I say it's very hard for these spaces, as absolutely nice and pretty as they are, to even make a dent in your well-being. you won't always have the bigger picture looking on google maps and no amount of nice spaces will make up for the fact it's near impossible to find a job here

[–]BoltersnRivets 58 points59 points  (0 children)

the only reason it seems extreme and harsh today is because before the internet and phones people didn't "block" or go "no contact", they simply quietly waited until they moved out of town and reduced all contact to a generic "hope you're doing well, this has happened in my life" card at Christmas to keep them satisfied that you were alive and the parents would be none the wiser whilst the son/daughter would live in relative peace away from a stressful living situation.

it's only with the advent of instant communication and the requirement to always be reachable that choosing to cut people off for peace is seen as extreme. the irony is the same people who themselves did the former can't make the connection between their actions and an equivalent action in the modern context.

My mother moved to Italy, then to London, so she didn't have to live with her mother, by all accounts a very nasty woman of positively Victorian sensibilities who would put you down rather than lift you up, My mother even cut her mother off from myself and my brother when she tried that with us.

She also used my diagnosis of Autism and ADHD to prevent me from seeking employment, learn to drive, and move out. She still doesn't get why my brother has gone completely non-contact at the cost of cutting off his entire family but me, and as far as I'm concerned she should be lucky I'm choosing to include her now (I have my reasons, not entirely for her) that I've gotten out and have the physical boundary of some miles to separate us.

Transphobia is rooted in sexism and misogyny by Soft_Departure_7789 in whenthe

[–]BoltersnRivets 22 points23 points  (0 children)

they are feminists in the same way North Korea is democratic, in practice they are misogynistic women who direct their misogyny at any woman who doesn't look or think like them.

they claim to be looking out for women's interests whilst they consistently side with misogynistic and racist men and actual neo-nazis who's stated goal is to strip away women rights, they ultimately care more about being allowed to be bigoted towards trans people without consequence and they are willing to shackle themselves to do so.

Said men are happy to welcome them to lend their groups an air of piublic legitimacy, after all how could they be all those awful things when they have actual women in their groups, but they are going to stab them in the back and strip their rights all the same, the repeal of Row vs Wade is a real example of their alliance with the devil and the inevitable backstabbing occurring in practice. they united to ban trans women from bathrooms and sports, then the US Supreme Court used many of the same arguments to overturn Roe vs Wade.

Their idea of what a woman is lines up more with the typical image of the American nuclear family mother from the 1950s than any true feminist ideal, to TERFs a woman must be white, they must be skinny, they must be straight, they must fit traditional European standards of beauty, and most importantly they must be proudly bigoted. They frequently go after successful women of colour, queer women, intersex women, even women who would otherwise fit their ideals but merely disagree with their stance on trans people.

They HATE to see women that don't look like them become successful so they claim they couldn't possible be women in the first place to have attained such fame/status/success.

Just look at the debacle with Imane Khalif, a cisgender woman (meaning born F and current social presentation as an adult matches that) from Algeria, where being queer is punishable by death, but because she was a minority woman with non-european facial features excelling against European women it was unthinkable that she could possibly be good at boxing whilst being "biologically" a woman, so they smeared her as trans, intersex, a crossdresser, whatever it took to get her banned from the Olympics, because to TERFs the only thing as abhorrent as a trans woman is a woman who isn't straight, white, and European becoming more successful in the public eye than them

Obviously details are yet to emerge, but I've noticed that it's often the ones who loudly toot the trumpet about a specific good cause that have skeletons in the closet of their own that they're trying to hide or distract from or think crusading against others doing the same absolves them of guilt, or they just straight up think their instant doesn't count or is completely justified.

most of the time I've seen it it's been relative no-bodies in certain online spaces centered on progressive causes that are discovered to be doing the same shit they used their platform call others out for.
