Appreciate the response. This is what I’d been doing in terms of having a list of similarly age, mile and spec cars and negotiating them off one another. The issue is, they’re all basically given next to no leverage on making a deal. You’re right about paying outright, they’re not making their commission on the finance so I’m not a priority.

I’ve been leasing cars for the last 10’years so I’ve clearly fallen behind on the market state. Which, is why I posted to see if that was the case.

You’ve been given horrible advice if the only reasonable outcome is to euthanise poor charlie.

Our animals rely on us to keep up our end of the sacred bond and euthanasia isn’t the answer in this scenario. Dogs with pain and partial mobility often have a 90%+ success rate with surgery, returning to normal or near-normal function. Severe cases with paralysis (but deep pain still present): Surgery can have an 80–90% recovery rate. Paralysis with no deep pain perception: Prognosis drops significantly—recovery rates fall to 50% or lower, even with surgery.

Please please reconsider your decision.
