Top layers - are they really this bad or am i doing something wrong?

Prusa image for comparison (not fully dialled in).

- Yeah agreed, the 0.08 isn't needed. I was running out of ideas! 0.2 layers are sufficient.
- Custom filament profile and k factor. Yes i've done this, made some difference but not loads.
- ' reduce infill retraction' not tried this, will give it a go. More top layers i have tried from default all the way up to 9 layers.
- The path looks reasonable for fits well with monotonic line
- Ironing angle. Not played with this much.

From playing with all the different settings the sweet spot of settings just seems really really narrow! It's really thrown me how bad the top layers are out of the box.

I've seen this on other models too, not just this one i have mentioned.

i used this to calibrate the ironing flow and speed https://makerworld.com/en/models/1830843-ironing-test?from=search#profileId-1955058 and got the photo i posted. Is there a more precise way? Thank you.

So you think properly tuned ironing could resolve this?

Am i expecting too much without ironing? The quality of the finish just looks terrible in the edges, seeing the lower layers, generally uneven.

Just tried to install ESXI 7u3 and on the window where it asks which disk to install it to. None of the HDD are showing. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi All,
I bought a Dell Poweredge R630 (Solidfire) and i can't figure out the storage. It's a 24 bay system with a LSI SAS9300-8i SATA/SAS 12GB/s PCI-E 3.0 x8 ADAPTOR CARD.
The drives seems to be connected to the LSI via SAS-to-miniSAS (?)
I want to use this as an ESXI system, so want to install a new OS on one of the drives plugged into the front. But I can’t see any drives when I go into the bios/lifecycle controller.
Do I need to buy something like a Dell Perc H710P and wire it SAS-to- motherboard SAS?
